5 MLB Lists, Including 'Most Underrated Players in Baseball History'

These Lists Are Subjective, but Make for Interesting Reading

R.C. Johnson
Baseball is my favorite sport, so I looked through a newly published slideshow to see if some of the players I have rooted for on the Minnesota Twins made the list. Uh - not many! Well, three to be exact.

The Angels' featured columnist Doug Mead has assembled an intriguing list of names and bios, with some tidbits of information that makes reading the stories behind the faces more interesting and informational. The article is entitled: MLB Power Rankings: The 50 Most Underrated Players in Baseball History.

Mead's criteria for "most underrated player"

1) A player that consistently puts up solid numbers but doesn't get the recognition he deserves because he doesn't play for a high-profile team or a team that's always in the press.

2) A player who consistently plays at a high level, but doesn't get proper recognition because he's playing in the shadow of a more famous player on his own team.

There are three Minnesota Twins' players on the list that I remember rooting for: A.J. Pierzynski (#14); Jay Bell (#27) and Larry Hisle (#50).

Who was given the honor of being the most underrated player? You'll have to go through the slideshow to find out - it displays the players from #50 (Larry Hisle) to #1 (???). Enjoy!

By the way, I chose an image of one of Cy Young's baseball cards to accompany this article because he is one of my personal favorite baseball players of all time! So many of his records still stand, which is quite a remarkable achievement.

Did you like Kent Hrbek? There was time when Ithought he might have had the talent to hit the triple crown.

Excellent list, but I am not sure if I agree with Omar Vizquel, being #1. Many others could be listed too. Thanks again.
