5 Music Videos that Will Put a Smile on Your Face

Gwendolyn Taylor
"Fireflies" by Owl City
Director: Steve Hoover; Release Date: 2009

Owl City is a one man band featuring Adam Young. His music has become quite a phenomenon and he is one of my favorite artists. His upbeat and cheery electronica-pop style tunes with clever, play on word lyrics are always a great pick-me-up during anytime of the day. The song "Fireflies" has been his number one hit, and his music video for this song is very fun to watch. The video basically shows random vintage toys in a room coming alive as he plays on his synthesizer and sings in the background.

"Vanilla Twilight" by Owl City
Release Date: March 24, 2010

This video features one of Owl City's slower, yet peaceful songs. The video begins with several people in a city going about their own business when all of sudden something in the sky diverts their attention. They look up and the sky is displayed in a beautiful picturesque way that makes everyone stop in their tracks and just stare as the world becomes a brighter place. Apparently this song was written by Adam Young (the solo guy behind Owl City) in memory of his late girlfriend who had just passed away.

"Ever Ever After" by Carrie Underwood

This music video and song was released as a bonus on the Disney Film "Enchanted" DVD and soundtrack. It features country pop star Carrie Underwood singing in a city scene as a handsome man ends up whisking her away for happily ever after. The music video also shows scenes from the actual movie, and gives off a very feel-good romantic vibe. The song itself is only available through purchase of the album, but Jordan Pruitt, a fellow Disney celebrity also recorded the same song with the same which is available for purchase.

"You Belong With Me" by Taylor Swift
Release Date:
November 4, 2008

This video won the "Best Female Video" at the 2009 VMA's and also was the spotlight of the Kanye West and Beyonce outburst; however, there is no doubt why this video won. Country pop star Taylor Swift has always been popular with girls and guys alike for her contemporary romantic lyrics and this is a song that many can relate to. The video features Taylor Swift as a girl who is good friends and in love with a guy, and yet the guy is dating another girl that is unsuitable for him. Taylor represents the girls that understand their best guy friend completely and are in a sense a "perfect match" and yet their guy friend either doesn't seem them the same way or are drawn to someone else because of their outward appearance and that they don't necessarily complement well with.

"Gift of a Friend" by Demi Lovato
Release Date: October 27, 2009

This music video features a special edition song that is found on Disney's "Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure" soundtrack. The song itself is very pleasant to listen to, and the video features Disney pop star Demi Lovato singing in what looks like an enchanted wooded area with scenes from the actual movie interwoven in.
