5 Myths About the IPad I'm Shocked Are Still Floating Around

IPad Myths that Should Have Been Debunked Ages Ago

Millionaire Hoy
Even before Apple announced the iPad there were rumors and myths circling the mysterious iPad, called the iTablet then. Nowadays everything you ever wanted to know about the iPad is readily available, so why are these 5 myths still seen as true?

1. Its Just a Big iPod

The myth that the iPad is just a big iPod Touch has been said so many times that it's bordering cliché status. When referring to the Apple iPad, it's just too easy to say "It's just a big iPod" without giving much thought to being wrong. The myth of the Apple iPad being nothing more than just a big iPod is wrong for several reasons. If Apple were to make a bigger iPad it would definitely cost more than $499.99 at launch and supposing the iPad were just a "bigger" iPod, the iPod would provide more room for browsing the internet, gaming, typing, and enjoying other forms of media. With the capabilities of the iPad (and lots of promise for the future) it's wrong to just dub it a bigger iPod and more accurate to call the iPad a smaller MacBook without a keyboard.

2. Webcam

Sometimes when you want something so bad, you'll trick yourself into believing that it's true - and that's how this myth of the Apple iPad webcam came about. Even the slightest hint of a suggestion that a webcam could fit into the iPad was enough to make webcam enthusiasts go bonkers with myths - and be completely wrong. To tell one of these webcam conspirers that their webcam myths are wrong would do no justice - they want a webcam and they'll make it true even if it the myths are obviously wrong.

3. Multitasking

Almost everyone knows that it would be wrong to state that the Apple iPad has multitasking capabilities, but somehow the myth still lives on. Even those that know that claiming the iPad can multitask is wrong, but they still envision themselves browsing the internet while listening to music or typing a paper in iWork while switching between the net for research. Without knowing it these people that know the iPad multitasking myths are wrong are the same people keeping these myths alive.

4. Tying the iPad Down to One Device

The iPad is in a league of its own and is really a brilliant device when paid attention to, but the attention span of the average consumer is lacking and they'll usually pay attention to one aspect of the iPad. People often view the Apple iPad as an ebook reader, mobile web browser, portable movie player, music player, tablet pc, etc. - and while they are right that the iPad has these features; they are wrong for buying into the myth that the iPad is just for those things. The iPad is a multipurpose device and to get that wrong is to be blind or misinformed.

5. You Can Get an iPad for Free

Most of these myths dealt with the features of the iPad, but I had to focus special attention to the free iPad myth. Myths of free gadgets at launch have been around for ages. The Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, laptops, and even the iPod have fallen victim to wrong claims about a free giveaway. Anyone that clicks on one of these links with hopes of winning a free iPad (it's not even released yet) is just wrong.
