Are you having trouble getting into shape? Do you feel tired all the time? A great way to get yourself back on track to a healthier you is to boost your metabolism. Metabolism is the rate at which your body uses energy or burns calories each day. Metabolism is affected by what you drink, eat, how much physical activity you do and even how much muscle you have. There are a few great natural ways to get yourself going again. Follow these tips and you'll be feeling better than ever in no time.

Drink plenty of water

Drink 6 to 8, 8 oz. glasses of water a day. It's so important for your overall health to keep yourself hydrated. Remember when you're exercising to drink even more water, you're body will be using twice what it normally does during this time.

Eat Protein

Protein fuels the body with the power to recover and repair your muscles after use. It will keep you strong which will allow you to be able to exercise. The best protein to eat is lean protein. Fish, chicken, turkey, and eggs are your best sources for a healthy diet.

Eat small meals often

Eating small meals every 3 hours instead of 2 or 3 large meals will keep your metabolism going. If you wait too long in between eating your body goes into a starvation mode which will actually cause your metabolism to slow way down.

Exercise

The two best forms of exercise you can do to boost your metabolism is aerobic and weight training. Try to do some type of aerobic exercise 3 times a week. Start with what's comfortable for you, if you can do 30 minutes of running that's great. If you need to start slower, try walking 20 minutes 3 times a week. Weight training is important to do as well. It will build your muscle, which will burn more calories and increase your metabolism. Again, do what works for you, if you can use weights for 20 minutes your metabolism will stay up for 2 hours after you are done.

Eat more natural

Eating foods packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants will charge your body with energy that it needs to go all day. Eating foods that have harsh additives attack your body instead of helping it. If you can't pronounce it or it sounds like a chemical then don't eat it. Find foods that don't have extra added sugar, that isn't processed or prepared and that is natural or as close to natural as you can find.
