5 NFL Teams that Had Their Superbowl Dreams Dashed in Week 7

AJ WOODSON
Week One of every season when every teams goes into the game undefeated and have Superbowl Dreams and Champaign wishes. But some point during the season there comes a time when you have reached the point of no return and have to face reality! For five teams were considered contenders and went into the seasons with going to the big game, week 7 was that point in time. Whether it be, because of injury, record or a combination of the two, basically there in a hole too big too dig themselves out of! Here is my list of 5 NFL teams that have had their Superbowl dreams dashed in Week 7 of the NFL season.

1. The Dallas Cowboys (Monday Night Football vs The New York Giants)

The Dallas Cowboys entered week 7 with - hey calling it a must win is an understatement a must win 1-4. Tony Romo's broken left collar bone pretty must, killed any Superbowl aspirations. And let's face it when you lose to a team who has 5 turnovers defeat you, its pretty much a wrap, even if they are my New York Giants! They may be allowed to attend the game since it will be held in their stadium, but that's the only way they are going to the Superbowl.

2. The Minnesota Vikings (Sunday Night Football vs Green Bay Packers)

While Brett Farve may have appeared to be Superman or the indestructible Iron Man never says die. His 2 fractures in his ankle may not cooperate with his mind over matter attitude. He has a high tolerant for pain but I would be surprised if he plays and if he manages to play how effective can he be. Everyone is talking about his streak being in danger; this could be the beginning of the end of his career for real.

Now at 2-4 it will be hard for the Vikings to get their swagger back. Last year they started 6-0 and made it to the NFC Championship. This year Farve's 14 turnovers, including 10 interceptions which is three more than he had all last season hasn't helped.

3. San Diego Chargers vs The New England Patriots

I am not sure how much of a chance the Chargers had to make it to the Superbowl in the beginning of the season, But at 2-5 its pretty much a wrap! I don't have much more to add to that!

4. Cincinnati Bengals vs The Atlanta Falcons

They had the weapons, Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco, they should they have heart by not giving up in the 39-32 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Carson had the game of his life, but for some reason the 2-5 Bengals just can't seem to get it together. The have the right ingredients, but they need the right recipe to show them how to mix them properly. Basically to sun it up I quote James Walker of ESPN.com, the "Bengals too sloppy to be contenders."

5. The San Fransciso 49'ers

I have to laugh even as I write these very words. The 49'ers may have been the only one that thought they still had a chance at 1-5 but after losing to the Carolina Panthers. I'm sorry to be the one to give them the news but at 1-6 means the fat lady has sang!

I didnt think they had a chance either, but they all did.
I didnt expect Dallas to go out like that either, and now everyone who argued with me about Wade Phillips being a better coach than Purcell cause of the record the first year he took over, are all calling for his head to roll now!

Honestly, I didn't think the Chargers, Bengals or 49ers even had a shot entering the season, and I wasn't sold on Brett Favre's old man bones holding up anyway. I don't know if I really thought the Cowboys were real Super Bowl contenders, but I didn't expect them to be THIS bad. They are such an awful, undisciplined team...Wade Phillips is a lame-duck coach right now.
