You just found out you're pregnant and you want to tell your loved ones. Whether it is an unexpected surprise or a planned baby, sharing the news with your partner, your family and friends is one of the first pleasures associated with pregnancy. Here are some fun and original ways to do it.

I used this method to break the news to my parents and my in-laws when I had my first child because I wanted to see the expression on my parents' and my husband's parents faces as the news sunk in.

This method is very simple. Buy a frame with a baby theme. When you know your due date, write a note saying "reserved for our baby due on..." and then write your due date. Remove the picture that usually comes with the frame and insert your note.

You can play around with the wording to make it yours. Invite them over or go to their house and ask them to reserve the picture frame for the coming baby. Once the baby is born you can use the frame for the baby's first pictures.

This is one of my other favorite ways of breaking the news to a loved one. Rather than picking one of the "I'm pregnant cards "on the Hallmark rack try making something original and that will be a treasured keepsake in your baby album.

Again you can personalize the card to make it 'yours' and totally original. My idea is to embellish the outside of the card with some baby theme scrapbook accessories. On the inside of the card you can write your own personal message. If you are not good with words you can borrow a poem or a quotation from your favorite author.

This is for the more adventurous and again it is up to you when it comes to how elaborate and creative you want to get. From simply writing the classical "baby inside" phrase on the front of your t-shirt to more elaborate pictures and wording, this is definitely a fun way of sharing the news.

You really want to knock off the socks of your loved one? Show up at their work place or at home when they are not expecting you and simply tell them you had to turn up because you had to tell them something important and a phone call wouldn't do. Invite your loved ones for dinner without telling them why you are inviting them over. Keep the conversation flowing during the meal but don't make any hints to your pregnancy until everyone has finished the main course. Then for dessert turn up with a cake saying something like "guess who's going to be a grandma?" or something on those lines. You can order a cake at the bakery or make it yourself.
