5 Perfect Gifts for People Who Love to Make Crafts

Crafty Gifts for Creative People

Angela W. La Fon
Do you have a serious crafter on your gift list? The people I am referring to are the queens of homemade cards, have an original wreath for every holiday, make homemade gifts, throw theme parties that make Martha Stewart look like a rookie and constantly amaze you with their talent for making something creative out of what may have been found in your dryer vent.

I know a little bit about these people myself and I can help you with great gift ideas for people who love to make crafts. Whether you need a stocking stuffer, Secret Santa gift, birthday gift or hostess gift, your crafty friend will appreciate any of these craft supplies.

1. A Hot Glue Gun or Glue Gun Glue Sticks

A hot glue gun is a powerful tool that has endless potential in the hands of a crafty person. From adding acorns or pinecones to wreaths, to building birdbaths from old china, to making seashell crafts, a hot glue gun is a must have for a serious crafter. If your friend already owns a hot glue gun, then glue gun glue sticks are always appreciated. Trust me on this one.

2. Rolls and Rolls of Ribbon

A crafty person will decorate just about anything with ribbons and bows from holiday flower vases, to napkin wrapped silverware for dinner parties, to ribbon stitched handmade cards. You can find rolls of ribbon in craft stores for under a dollar.

Here's a tip for presenting your gift: Get 10 or more rolls of ribbon in a variety of colors and widths. Cut one strand of ribbon and thread it threw the holes in the ribbon dispensers to create a wreath of rolls of ribbon. NASA may not be impressed but your creative friends will go gaga over a wreath of rolls of ribbon.

3. Grapevine Wreaths

Grapevine wreaths are attractive as is but to a creative person, it is like a blank artist's canvas. A crafty person will adorn a grapevine wreath with anything from seashells to Easter eggs. Creative hostesses know that wreaths aren't just for hanging on doors. They also make a fun centerpiece for a table with flowers or candles in the center or else a festive way to highlight a main dish on a buffet table.

4. Craft Paints

Serious crafters love to paint handmade gifts and creations. From personalizing a wooden book caddy, to turning a gourd into a work of art, creative people can see paint and a rock and envision a fun paperweight or doorstop on the horizon.

5. A Gift Certificate to Michael's Crafts, A. C. Moore or a local craft supply store

One common characteristic of seriously crafty people is that they have a myriad of interests, talents and projects. Maybe this month they are knitting and would love more yarn, maybe next month they'll be creating purses out of jeans and need more thread. They most likely have a list of crafts for the New Year from fabric covered Easter eggs to handmade birdhouses, to beaded jewelry, to mirrors trimmed in colored glass stones.

A gift certificate to a craft's store is like a vitamin for crafters that gets the creative juices flowing and supplies everything they need to be creative. Sometimes gift certificates don't seem all that creative, but for a creative person a gift certificate for craft store is truly thoughtful. Trust me on this one. I know "these people."
