5 Places to Find Christian Christmas Cards

Mass Retailers You Visit Where the Message is Still Alive

Wayne Cook
With the slow economy, my grown daughter and I decided to save some money with our Christmas cards this year. First, we decided to only send a few cards to special friends and not send everyone the same card. At the same time, we wanted to maintain a distinctively Christian message, since "Jesus is the Reason for the Season."

After the Chrstimas greeting wars over the last couple of years, we were not certain we could go to the mass retailers and find even the "Merry Christmas" greeting, much less a strong reference to the Christ child and the gospel.

Well, we were pleasantly surprised as we stopped at the familiar shopping spots we went into every week. We found a large aisle full of cards marketed by the top producers and names in the card business. For example, Walmart carries only the American Greeting brand and Walgreen's carries only the Hallmark brand. Most do not segregate the Christian, faith-based, or religious cards from the rest, but if you look through the selections, you will find a variety of cards that portray the Christian symbolism.

Each of the stores we visited had good lighting with which to view our selections, wide aisles where people could navigate around other shoppers and a big selection. Their selections were enlarged for the Christmas season.

One advantage to these stores was that we didn't have to sludge through gifts and other items to select cards. They were in distinctive displays and easy to find.

The stores we visited included:

Walmart, Walgreen, Lifeway Christian Resources, Hallmark Cards And Gifts, and Target

It should be noted that the easiest store to shop was WALMART...surprise, surprise! Their card displays are in the front of the store near the check outs and the candy. Of course the disadvantage is the long lines at the checkout. If you are lucky, though, you can find a self-checkout if you are in a hurry and only have the cards to check out.

We also tried an on-line search.

Save yourself a lot of effort and time by going directly to christianchristmascards.com. The artist has a beautiful selection of Christian themed cards which seem to be very high quality and the price is exceptional -- much cheaper than the $2.49 and up on store cards. Most web sites were cluttered with gifts, vague pictures of the cards and difficult to navigate. Trust me on this one.
