5 Players to Watch This College Basketball Season

The college basketball season is upon us. If you are a fan like me you probably already know what teams are expected to lead the pack. Teams like North Carolina, Memphis, UCLA and Tennessee will all be ranked high as the season starts. However with several players coming out early last year, you may not know what players will be the best in college hoops this year. Here is a list of players sure to dominate and all should be candidates for All-American.

Tyler Hansbrough. My vote for player of the year. Hansbrough was recently quoted as saying he won't leave school until he wins a national championship. Not many players in today's world would make such a statement. What makes Hansbrough such a great player is simple, his heart. He has a passion for the game that is matched by no one. He plays every play hard diving on the floor fighting for the ball and scoring when needed. With most of his cast back this year he should have a good chance to win that championship he mentioned.

Chris Lofton- Chris Lofton knows that his Volvs should have been in the elite eight last season. There loss to Ohio State last year was tough because they had such a huge lead. This year Lofton is poised to go farther than last year. With his super outside shot Lofton will be lighting up opponents all season long. His improved ability to create his own shot should help him to score even more than last year. His decision to come back for his senior season was a great one as the Volvs should be tough to stop this year.

Kevin Love- Love is the easy vote for Freshman of the year. His ability to score on the inside and knock down the outside shot will make him a force this year. He should fit in well at UCLA as they will be without Arron Afflalo who has moved on to the NBA. Love is destined to be a star and will play well even as a freshman this year.

Ty Lawson- The best point guard in college basketball is Ty Lawson. Lawson has amazing speed and can get to the basket in a matter of seconds. He is a good outside shooter and can score when needed. With a year of experience under his belt, he should be super this year as he tries to lead the Heels back to the Final Four.

Roy Hibbert- Roy Hibbert is probably the best center in college basketball. He proved just how good he was last year by taking the Hoyas all the way to the Final Four. His tall frame inside gives him the ability to rebound and score. He will miss Green, who went to the NBA but he should have a pretty good supporting cast left. The Hoyas will be really tough to stop with this big man. Hibbert has the potential to go down in Georgetown history with other great centers like Patrick Ewing and Alonzo Mourning.

There are a number of great players entering the college ranks this year. Amazingly a number of these players are freshman. The players mentioned above however are sure to be on the top of everyone's All- American list.
