- They provide more privacy
Yes, if you get an apartment instead of a dorm you will be able to have a lot more privacy. Chances are that you will get at least a two bedroom apartment and you'll have your own room with a lock and key in which you can spend as much time as you want by yourself without being bothered by anyone else in the room.
- You're not required to buy a meal plan
Having an apartment as opposed to a dorm also means that you will not be required to get a meal plan by your school or residence administration. Meal plans can be very expensive and sometimes you're not given the option to not buy it. If you get an apartment though it's not likely that this will be the case for you.
- You can have guests over
Now if you have a roommate to share your apartment with this isn't something that you can do freely but it is something that you can do if you talk about it and come up with an agreement with your roommate. Once you decide how things have to be you can surely have guests over such as family, friends, and your study group if you want without having to worry about limited space or taking over your roommates side of the room.
- You will have a kitchen and living room
If you've never had your own kitchen and living room to do whatever you want in them then you should get an apartment because this is a perk that you would get. The kitchen is usually all loaded with the appliances and you can get a furnished apartment if you don't yet want to buy furniture for yourself to put in your living room.
- You will have more space for your things
If you lived in a dorm before the apartment or if you have a friend who does live there you will find out that there is never enough space for all the things that you have. Well if you get an apartment that will not be the case. You'll have a lot of space to store all the things that you want to have. You will not have to worry about restrictions unless your apartment complex is owned by the school and they want to put restrictions on you.
