Vizio, the largest HDTV seller of North America, has recently stepped into the fray of popular manufacturer's that are releasing mobile tablets, but although Vizio is great at selling HDTVs, the Vizio Tablet will likely be a huge flop.
Odd 8 Inch Display
To be fair, the Vizio Tablet sports a beautiful touchscreen display (as would be expected of Vizio), but for some reason Vizio decided to side with an 8 inch display instead of opting for the more standard 7" or 10" display. This might not seem like huge issue, but for app developers and those looking to take advantage of Android Market apps; the Vizio Tablet may pose difficulty when trying to optimize Android apps to an 8 inch display.
Horrible Camera Quality
The Vizio Tablet has by far one of the worst cameras available on the market '" even for a budget tablet. While most modern tablets feature a 2-5 megapixel rear facing camera and a decent front facing camera, the Vizio Tablet not only doesn't have a rear facing camera, but has a very poor VGA quality front facing camera. If you're a tablet photography buff, you should probably stay away from this budget tablet.
Last Year's Hardware Specs
Not only does the Vizio Tablet have poor camera specs, but quickly looking under this tablet's "hood" will reveal that it's sporting features that were more common on tablets a year ago. The Vizio Tablet features a 1GHz single core processor, 512MB of RAM, 2GB of storage space, and a VGA quality front facing camera. Most modern tablets features twice the power of the Vizio Tablet '" which appears to have been made to compete with the first generation iPad.
Cheap Form Factor
Sometimes you get what you pay for, and that seems to be the case with this $329 budget tablet. The design and build of the Vizio Tablet is overall cheap and doesn't feel well put together. The buttons of this tablet feel as though they'll cease working after extended use, you can see a seam around the Vizio Tablet's bezel, and this tablet doesn't look as though it could take much damage at all.
Limited Memory
At $329, you might assume that the Vizio Tablet is a bargain, but once you read the fine print, you might believe otherwise. The Vizio Tablet only comes equipped with 2GB of storage space, which can hold about 500 songs, 2 ½ movies, or a handful of apps, and in order to enjoy this tablet you'd have to buy an SD card memory upgrade soon after purchase. The added cost of the necessary additional SD card will surely add to the $329 cost of the Vizio Tablet '" so it might not be as great a deal as you think.
