5 Reasons to Blog About Your Weight Loss Journey

With Google's Blogspot, Typepad, Wordpress and many other easy to use blogging websites and tools, blogging has never been easier. Many people are blogging about their weight loss journeys, so why shouldn't you? After blogging about my journey to lose 50 pounds for the past year I feel I can write from experience.

Here are five reasons to blog about your weight loss journey:

1. Encouragement is the greatest boost when you are working on a sometimes discouraging journey. Having comments from other weight loss bloggers is a self esteem builder. It is also nice to get their tips when you are feeling unmotivated or need answers to weight loss questions. It's always nice to have a "cheer team" to back you up!

2. Accountability comes when we put our struggles out there for other's to know. Blogging is a non threatening way of sharing. With such a wide sphere of bloggers, there are bound to be others with a similar story as yours.

3. You can actually see your progress when you share pictures of your journey. Many days during the past year I would look at myself in the mirror and felt like there wasn't much of a change. Then getting on my blog and seeing one of my first pictures gave me the boost of encouragement that I needed. We see ourselves everyday and that can make it harder to see drastic changes.

4. Joining Blog Challenges is fun. There are many challenges for bloggers only to join and check in, share tips and see other bloggers who are doing the same challenges and then blogging about it. I'm a part of the Scale Junkie's challenge. She has us check in once a week and share what's been happening during the week, such as losses and such. I have also joined some fun challenges like Juneathon. For Juneathon we worked out every day for the entire month of June. They followed it up with Julyathon which was getting to one hundred push-ups by the end of the month.

5. Seeing the numbers in black and white makes your goal a realistic one and not just a wish. Some weeks when you see the scale or inches go up; you know you need to adjust what you are doing. When you see them go down, no matter how small, it feels like a true accomplishment.

You can meet some wonderful people who will encourage you and share tips with you along the way. In turn, if you share what you learn while you go through your journey many people will benefit. You can't help but to be benefited by blogging your weight loss journey.
