5 Reasons Carpets Are Good to Have

Dale Miller
There are so many different types of carpets sold today. How do we know what is good and is it a better idea installing carpeting instead of having hardwood floors? Well, there are many benefits owning carpeting throughout your home. They actually help your health. I have learned of five reasons that carpets are beneficial to the people in your home.

First, the carpet acts as a filter throughout your home trapping soil. It holds dirt between the fibers mostly below the top of the carpet fibers. Dirt brought in from the outdoors from your shoes, toys and other items will remain there on the carpet for easy vacuuming later on.

Next, the carpet collects animal and human dander. If you have pets the carpet will hold pet hair generally in a few specific areas where the animal uses spends the most time. This is helpful because it makes it easier to pick up instead of the hair being scattered around and blown around from air movement.

Living in an area where it gets colder from time to time, having carpets really make the room a lot cozier. The floor is warmer on your feet and it is a lot softer to walk on.

Dark carpeting, especially hides most of the soil. Making your room not look as dirty as it really is. Noone can ever tell how dirty the carpet is until it is thoroughly vacuumed or steam cleaned. Have you ever used one of those bagless vacuums with the clear container that collects all the debris? I'm sure you were surprised what you picked up or how much you vacuumed a few times because it is mostly hidden in the fibers. If you steam cleaned your carpet before the water probably came out looking disgusting but, the carpet didn't really look that dirty.

There are health benefits to you and your family when you have carpeting such as trapping tobacco smoke, combustion smoke from wood, dust from the atmosphere, dust around the house, skin flakes, cooking smoke, fumes, mold spores, bacteria, virus, pollen and hair. That is a lot of protection and it keeps them from being airborne.

These are top reasons it is better to have carpeting than a different kind of flooring such as vinyl, laminate and hardwood.

Wow, you should really talk to my allergist if you think carpets are healthier than hardwood floors! And why on earth would you want to trap dirt and other disgusting things in carpet and keep them around? With hardwood floors you can actually eliminate such things though simple vacuuming,(With hardwood floors you can easily move furniture around to get all those hiding dust bunnies too.) Unlike carpets which require constant expensive cleaning; After which the stains keep coming up. With hardwood floors, no such things as stains. For example, I could never have pets and a clean house if I had gross disgusting carpet. What a weird disinformed article!
