5 Reasons Clearwire Internet Service Sucks More Than You Thought

Clearwire Internet Sucks and Customers Are Given Bad Service

Millionaire Hoy
Clearwire internet service is a new internet service provider that's popping up all over the place like Cricket did years ago. Clear promises a 4G network, low prices, and no credit checks, but doesn't advertise these five reasons why Clearwire sucks.

1. Bad Coverage Areas

Verizon claims that "there's a map for that", AT&T states "there's an app for that" but Clearwire's stance is "there's crap for that." If you plan on buying one of Clear's wireless broadband cards; don't plan on travelling with it. Clearwire doesn't cover 15 U.S. states (popular ones like California, Nevada, New York and Florida) and has bad wireless internet coverage in the states that it currently covers. What good is having 4G if you're limited to just one area? If you're out of town, you'll be charged for internet service you can't use - which sucks.

2. Speed

Clear internet service throws around the word 4G as if it was guaranteed, but the only guarantee is that the internet speed sucks if you're on the go. The speed of Clearwire internet is based on location and if you're always on the go, you'll want to avoid the bad speed that comes with clear internet service. 4G is supposed to go up to 10 times faster than 3G internet and it's obvious that Clear didn't master this technology before introducing it to the public.

3. Windows 7 issues

Windows 7 was released 10.22.2009 and clear still hasn't fixed its issues with Windows 7. To be fair Clearwire did update their online drivers with a Windows 7 update, but how will Clearwire customers get access to those drivers if they can't get on the internet? It would be simple if Clear made a disk to pass to customers, but they leave their salespeople hanging and their customers out in the cold - Clear internet service doesn't work right out the box with Windows 7.

4. The hardware is cheap

I work at an electronics store and customers are always complaining or trying to return broken wireless broadband modems or complaining about their shoddy modems at home. The wireless broadband cards are easily broken in USB ports, can split in half, and won't live long while used on laptops (what they're intended to be used for).

5. It has its own hate website

When there is so much interest in the fact that your product sucks that an entire website can be formed with complaints alone; something is wrong with your product. Clearwiresucks.com was created to help people broadcast their hatred and frustration about a product they had enough faith in to buy and got totally ripped off by. Clearwiresucks.com is not a website where one guy is angry and just venting his frustrations; Clearwiresucks.com is filled with various ex-Clear customers from all over the U.S. that all know one truth - Clear internet sucks.

Clear is really bad, they charged me for 4G home service....never accepted the equipment from the Clear Mall people....They charged me shipping and handling on equipment never received. I used the 3G.....but was unhappy with the service....They said it was a 2 year agreement.....the Mall people said I could cancel at anytime......Run!

I have had clear for one week and do not get service most of the time and I am just .37 miles from the tower, furthermore; I ran a speed test and my speed was .16/.32 Wow not even a 1M of speed. I work from home and need my service. I got hung up on twice today by the Tech Support They have the worse staff ever and refuse to let you speak to a supervisor or Manager. They actually gave me a $20.00 credit but the kicker is it applies to next months bill...REALLY? I am not in a contract I pay month to month there will be no next month I have already cancelled my card so they can't bill me...I have tried to call and cancel but they won't allow it they don't do refunds. It has been a nightmare

What they say to get a sale prior to taking in the cash changes when the drawer closes. -If you aren't happy with it, for any reason, just bring it back - becomes - we are a little store and don't take equipment back and issue refunds, you have to get a mailing label (from a choppy internet connection with a VoIP phone line that dropped off and sounded like an archiac rotary phone at the best). When I tried to call the number that the sales agent wrote down it had turned out to be an inactive numnber. It took a long time to get the problem resolved and a company like this needs to have its business practices monitored.

If they are continuing to charge you, you should file a fraud complaint with the cook county prosecutors office

I've signup clear on Augues 10, 2010 at one the clear agent store of Chicago Illinois.

The agent told me to I have 2 week to try it out period, and buy the modem are much cheaper instead leasing it.

So I select the home and mobile package which is $55 a/mon.

I've paid $164.98 plus tax $14.85 for both home and mobile with a mon of charge of $55, so I paid $234.83 for the first bill with my credit card.

    The connection sucks..

The connection are sucks, the modem only show 2 LED on instead of 5 most of the time, maybe sometime 3, not reliable at all. And the mobile one with no connection at all at my house, and really slow at my work place.
Most of the time, I open the browser, it show with no connection, so the browser leave as blank page.
Even I able to connect, the connection slow as hell, even slow than the dial up modem.

Yes, I think it sucks. Do I recommend it, No. But at least I can get online. It has come in handy the last few months because a roommate canceled his broadband and now I'm moving too. However, the seamless video watching they do on TV is bullsh*t. I can have full bars (10 dots lit, out of 10 dots) and still only see a few seconds of anything streaming. Takes forever to buffer again. It is very frustrating. Cable internet at home will always be the best. Hands down.

I'm glad I found this site and others like it. After crappy service from Comcast I started looking around for alternatives. I thought about Clear for home but their customer service sounds as bad as Comcast. I guess I'll just keep paying through the nose and calling Comcast whenever my internet connection is dropped - daily.

Clear network is one of the biggest rip offs I have ever encountered, not just because the signal is crap, and weak to none in thier so called coverage area, but because when I signed up with them, I cancelled the service withing 48 hours due to NO SERVICE. 9 months later they are still taking money out of my account. I guess I am going to have to change banks. I have spoken with more than 12 Clear reps, 4 superisors all admitted that I have ZERO usage, but will not give me my money back BEWARE!!
