5 Reasons Everywhere You Sit on the Bus Sucks

There's Only One Good Seat on the Bus: The Driver's Seat

There's only one good seat on the bus: the driver's seat.

#1: The front seat

Sitting on the front of the bus seems like a great idea in theory; it's readily available, it's right next to the bus driver, it's next to an exit, and it's a far as possible from the back of the bus (more on that later).

The front of the bus appears to be a dream seat, but ends up being the seat from hell. Wave after wave of bus passengers bump past you; kicking your feet, while squeezing past and bumping into you constantly making the front seat a first stop in annoyance.

#2: The window seat

On most buses there are a few rows of "double seats", which leaves you with the predicament of choosing the window seat or aisle seat. You decide to choose the window seat because you want to isolate yourself from everyone else, have your own space, and be able to enjoy the scenery from the windows view.

When you chose this seat in order to be isolated from the other passengers, you didn't factor in the possibility that you would be sitting next to a bus passenger that had no concept of personal boundaries at all. Your "double seat" partner sits closely next to you, bumping around to get comfortable while squishing you to death. Your window seat becomes a death trap and the only scenery you hope to find out the window is someone to flag down for help.

#3: The aisle seat

You don't want to be trapped in a window seat and every other seat is taken so you are forced to sit in the aisle seat. The aisle seat is far from the best on the bus, but it's better than standing - or is it?

No matter how thin you are, the aisle seat never has enough room to sit comfortably. If you sit in the aisle seat, every passer by bumps into your shoes, legs, and knee caps the entire time you are sitting in this seat. It's a constant wiggling and uncomfortable ride in the aisle seat.

#4: The back door seat

Sitting by the back door of the bus is not for anyone that doesn't like being disturbed constantly. If you're by the back door of the bus it's like being outside in the wild. If it's rainy, snowing, or windy outside, you'll be reminded every time someone exits the bus and the doors open up on you.

If you so happen to sit next to the back door of the bus, be prepared to deny opening the back door for people that want to sneak on the bus or snatch and grab your belongings. Sitting by the back door is no place for anyone with valuable belongings.

#5: The notorious back seat

The back seat is the butt crack of the bus. It's the perfect place to get trapped sitting by loud, wild, drunk, rowdy, or any passenger that doesn't want to be easily spotted by the bus driver.

During after school hours, you'd rather be sitting in a cage filled with wild and angry chimpanzees than on the back of the bus with teenagers. Teenagers after school are like crack heads right after their "fix." They're wild, crazy, loud and rude, and have designated the back of the bus as their stomping grounds.

If you sit on the back of a crowded bus, be prepared to miss your bus stop, because getting off is virtually impossible from the back of a crowded bus.
