1. Sleeping in until noon cuts business hours. If a noon-sleeper lives on the West Coast, there's only an hour or less left in the day before businesses on the East Coast close. With the 4-hour difference in time zones, noon is four in the afternoon on the other side of the US. Furthermore, it only leaves 4 hours to take care of personal business and run errands locally. Most businesses close by late afternoon.
2. Sleeping in until noon ignores the sunrise. A most wonderful thing happens in the early morning hours. It's called sunrise! Dawn is a spectacular time, when morning paints the sky in magnificent hues. The dew on the grass and the fog covering the field--there's so much appreciation of life that happens in the morning when birds sing. A noon-sleeper misses it all. The crispness of morning is gone by the time a noon-sleeper pops his or her eyes open.
3. Sleeping in until noon commits tomorrow. Here's a twist on things. If a noon-sleeper sleeps until noon, he or she won't be able to fall asleep at night in time to get enough sleep to be able to get up before noon the next day. Does that make sense? It does to those who must be about school or work during banking hours.
4. Sleeping in until noon misses breakfast. Who hasn't heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day? A noon-sleeper misses buttermilk pancakes with maple syrup, eggs and hash browns. Noon is time for lunch; breakfast is over.
5. Sleeping in until noon ignores the dog. Dog owners know that Fido won't wait until noon for his morning walk. He will give up waiting for a noon-sleep and leave a deposit in the front room. Dogs are funny that way. They rise with the sunshine--unlike those who sleep until noon.
Noon-sleepers miss the sunrise and breakfast. They lose business hours for conducting personal business. They affect their sleep that night, and they frustrate the dog. See why it's important to get up before noon?
