5 Reasons to Not Buy the Samsung Dart Smartphone

Why You Should Stay Away from the Samsung Dart Smartphone

Should everything with a touchscreen and mobile OS be considered a smartphone? Well, maybe, but the Samsung Dart teeters the line between smartphone and basic '" and these are several reasons why you should "dart" away from the Samsung Dart smartphone.

Limited Functionality

Smartphones are usually thought of as "do-it-all" gadgets that can play HD quality videos, run the most advanced apps, take high quality still shots and videos, browse the web swiftly, and well, do it all, but that just isn't the case with the Samsung Dart smartphone. The Samsung Dart is like a smartphone from "yester-year" and due to its shoddy camera and outdated hardware, this is one smartphone that's roughly 95% phone and 5% "smart".

Poor Hardware

When compared to modern day smartphones, the Samsung Dart just doesn't stack up. Even the most basic smartphones of the day feature dual-core processors, 1GB of RAM, a 5 megapixel camera, and 8GB of internal storage, but the Samsung Dart has less than half of that with a paltry 600MHz single core processor, 512MB of internal memory, 384MB of RAM, and a 3.1 touchscreen display.

Horrible Battery Life

When I look at certain specs of the Samsung Dart Android "smartphone", I can't help but think that either T-Mobile is playing a very cruel or joke or they're simply doing market research '" and the battery of the Samsung Dart is one of those features. For all of its other lacking features, it's very surprising that the Samsung Dart has an advertised battery life of up to 4 hours of talking time. 4 hours of battery life is horrible, but once you also take into consideration that the 4 hours is promised for talk time, not playing games, running apps, or web browsing, you'll realize that the projected 4 hours is the maximum amount of battery life, not the minimum.

Laughable Camera Quality

5 megapixel cameras are becoming a thing of the past and it's now uncommon to see 8 and 12 megapixel cameras, but the Samsung Dart is only "packing" a 2 megapixel camera. I honestly haven't seen a 2 megapixel camera since 2001 and even then they were old, so it's very shocking that a smartphone a decade later is promoting a 2 megapixel camera as if it were a great feature '" why have a camera at all?

Inflated Price

With all of the laughable features of the Samsung Dart, you'd figure that T-Mobile sacrificed lots of features to provide and economically friendly alternative to the other Android smartphones on the market, but the $249 price tag of the Samsung Dart has it priced $50 more than the iPhone 4 '" the most popular smartphone in the US market.
