5 Reasons to Not Buy the Samsung Galaxy Prevail from Boost Mobile

Why Buying the Samsung Galaxy Prevail from Boost Mobile Might Be a Bad Idea

The Samsung Galaxy Prevail is the best smartphone available on the Boost Mobile network and surpasses most phones offered from Boost Mobile, but that doesn't make it perfect and following are its worst features.

Camera Quality

A quality camera is a great asset for any smartphone, but unfortunately, the camera quality of the Samsung Galaxy Prevail is toy-like and laughable at best. Most smartphones nowadays boast having a 5, 8, 10, or even 12 megapixel camera (with 5 megapixels being the norm), but the Samsung Galaxy Prevail comes up very short in the camera department with a low-budget 2 megapixel camera. Still photos come out very pixelated with the Samsung Galaxy Prevail inbuilt camera and it's almost not even worth having a camera at all.

Poor Hardware

The poor camera quality of the Samsung Galaxy Prevail isn't an isolated event and most of the Prevails hardware is subpar overall. Under the hood the Samsung Galaxy Prevail features an 800 MHz single core processor, 384 MB of RAM, 117 MB of internal memory (with a 2 GB memory card added), a 2 megapixel camera, and a 1500 mAh battery. Although one shouldn't expect much from Boost mobile, the lacking hardware features of the Samsung Galaxy Prevail is a bit disappointing.

Boost Mobile Interference

Some of the original features designed by Samsung have been hijacked (and even removed) by Boost Mobile which steels a lot of thunder from what the Samsung Galaxy Prevail was designed to be. Boost Mobile is a pay as you go phone service provider and in order to make the Prevail work well on their network, Boost Mobile "nerfed" lots of the Prevail's original features, including its mobile hotspot features.

Screen Resolution

A smartphone's touchscreen is the center of attention on virtually all smartphone's and is the focal point where all the magic happens on a smartphone. It's very hard to make up for a crappy smartphone touchscreen and the standard 3.2 inch capacitive LCD touchscreen with a paltry 320x480 pixels resolutions is a feature that's really holding the Samsung Galaxy Prevail back.

Poor Battery Life

I've made mention of this when speaking on the Samsung Galaxy Prevail's inferior hardware, but the 1500 mAh battery of this smartphone leaves a lot to be desired. Although the Samsung Galaxy Prevail is advertised as having up to 6.5 hours of talking time, real-world use of this phone has it pegged at 4 hours of battery life on average.
