5 Reasons to Pass on the Samsung W200 Rugged Camcorder
The Worst Features of the Samsung W200 Rugged Camcorder
The Samsung W200 camcorder is known for its 1080p video capturing, durability features, attached USB flip drive, and nice LCD panel, but the Samsung W200 also has several poor features that you don't want to overlook if you're eyeing this camcorder.
Poor Camera Quality
The Samsung W200 is known for being able to capture great 1080p HD video quality, but it's still photo capturing leaves lots to be desired. The Samsung W200 only supports a measly 5 megapixel quality still photo camera, which won't be enough to appease photography buffs or even novice digital camera users. With other great ruggedized cameras that boast 10+ megapixel cameras, the camera quality of the Samsung W200 is very underwhelming.
Lack of Special Effects
Filters and special effects are usually great bonus features, but with most modern camcorders supporting multiple features and special effects, they've become a necessity. Unfortunately, the Samsung W200 boasts very few special features and filters and only offers Fisheye, Miniature and Vignetting filters.
Annoying USB Connection
One of the most complained about features of the Samsung W200 is also one of its most advertised features; its built-in USB arm. The premise behind the Samsung W200's USB arm is that it would create easy access that would allow easy sharing and data transfer, but in practice, the Samsung W200's USB arms placement makes for a very quirky connection and if it's ever broken, there are no other means to transfer the data of this digital camera.
Average Durability Features
The durability features of the Samsung W200 "rugged" camcorder are one of its biggest selling points, but unfortunately, even the ruggedized features of the Samsung W200 leave a lot to be desired. This camcorder offers several durability features including water, shock, and dust resistance, but it offers no temperature protection including radiation, solar protection, and freeze resistance.
Price
At first glimpse, the price of the Samsung W200 might not seem that bad, heck $159.99 doesn't seem that bad at all, but after looking at this camcorder a second time, it's easy to notice that this digital camcorder is a bit overpriced. Due to its lack of photo still quality, lacking filters and effects, poor data transfer methods, and basic durability features, the $159.99 asking price of the Samsung W200 is a bit overpriced.
