5 Reasons You Shouldn't Work from Home

The world has changed and how we earn our living has evolved over the years, the Internet brings forth new opportunities to work from home. However, making money from home may not be right for you, and you may not have what it takes to be successful at working from home right now.

Can anyone make money from home and earn a living? It's possible, but there is a lot more involved than owning a computer and having Internet access because working from home can be very stressful. Whether you want to work in the garage refinishing furniture and selling it or sit at a desk and write articles on line there are some very important things you should consider before getting started.

Let's focus on working from home using a computer and the Internet, obviously you need both, but have you considered what's required to make earning your living at home possible.

Relationships
If you are married or living with someone and in a relationship you shouldn't work from home if your partner does not fully, I mean 100%, understand and support your business. Yes, even writing articles or blogging is a business and should be treated as one if you are being paid for it. If your partner is not behind you all the way they may become resentful or feel neglected because a home business takes time and dedication; the fact that you are not physically out of the house for 8 to 10 hours can be mistaken as not working.

Children
Are you a parent with young children who need your attention? If you do not have space to convert into an office or work area where your children understand that once you close the door it is the same as if you walked out of the house, got into the car and drove off to work and are unavailable; then you shouldn't work from home.

Time Management
Can you effectively manage your time and stick to a schedule the same way you would if working outside the home? This is so important when working at home, if you cannot do this you shouldn't work from home.

Discipline
Are you disciplined enough to get the job done? Many people don't realize how important it is to be disciplined enough to put forth the effort needed to succeed while working at home. If you are easily swayed and quickly think I can just do it later because I work at home, you shouldn't work at home.

Desire
Do you have the drive and desire to make it work? Are you willing to create a work environment or area at home and keep plugging forward regardless of setbacks? Working at home is not making easy money, it's work done at home, if you don't have the desire needed to succeed being your own boss, you shouldn't work at home.

This is not to discourage anyone, it is a realistic look at some of the things that can ruin the opportunity and perhaps the dream of working at home. Timing and a clear understanding is vital for success. Yes, it is possible to make money from home and there are a variety of opportunities availabale today, but don't under estimate what it takes, you must work to earn your income from home.
