Ellicotville is rich in history and maintains a small town feel. The local businesses offer visitors everything from a local winery and brewery to small shops and unique restaurants. The five reasons to visit Ellicotville are just a sampling of what Ellicotville has to offer.
1. Festivals
Ellicotville has a number of festivals throughout the year that add extra entertainment for visitors. Some of the popular festivals include the Beer and Wine Festival in November, Christmas festivities, Canadian Friendship Week, Mardis Gras, the Summer Festival of the Arts, Ellicotville Jazz Festival, Taste of Ellicotville, and the Fall Festival. During the winter months, Ellicotville often has a festival feel to it on the weekends.
2. Skiing and Winter Activities
Ellicotville is one of the most popular ski villages in the Western New York area. Holiday Valley Resort offers visitors over 50 ski slopes, tubing, and snowboarding, as well as a great place to stay. During winter months, Ellicotville gets an average of 50 inches or more of snow per year, turning it white from November through March, typically. Daytime activities on the slopes keep visitors active while nightlife on the weekends in Ellicotville offers night owls plenty of places to have a drink or enjoy a nice dinner.
3. Beer and Wine Tasting
Ellicotville has one of the best beer breweries in the Western New York region. Ellicotville Brewing Company is worth a visit to sample some of the unique beers offered. On a recent visit, the Ellicotville Brewing Company Blueberry Wheat was a surprise hit. All of the beers are also sold at local stores in bottled six packs. The Winery of Ellicotville offers visitors a wine tasting for just $3, and has a good variety of locally made wines to purchase.
4. The Perfect Location
Ellicotville is located just a short drive from the Buffalo area to the north and close to Salamanca and the Pennsylvania border to the south of Ellicotville. Allegany State Park and the Seneca Allegany Casino are just a 15 minute drive from Ellicotville and Amish Country surrounds the nearby towns. Niagara Falls is about an hour drive north, and the Peace Bridge to Canada is only about 40 minutes.
5. Four Season Natural Beauty
Ellicotville is a four season village and a great place to visit anytime of year. Summer months offer festivals and warm weather, while autumn brings the spectacular blaze of leaves changing colors. Winter makes Ellicotville a complete ski and winter sports town, and provides visitors with the snow covered Enchanted Mountains surrounding Ellicotville. There are few villages and towns which offer both small town ambiance and so many activites in town and nearby as Ellicotville. Whether you visit for the day or over a weekend, Ellicotville is a great place to see.
