5 Reasons to Wear Makeup

Amanda Furbeck
Makeup is not just a frivolity or a vain indulgence. It may seem like it, though, especially when you see the makeup prices at department store counters. But a makeup investment is an investment in your self. And that investment can reap rewards that affect your life, your career, and your self esteem. Here's why you must wear makeup - at least some of the time.

People will trust you more. Surprisingly, studies have shown that people will trust you more if you wear a moderate amount of makeup as opposed to no makeup or too much makeup. I find that slightly ironic, as makeup helps to hide our flaws and make us look like what we're not. But if you want to gain the trust of others, it will help to wear makeup. A neutral, yet flattering look, will go far.

Be more productive. I am always amazed at the difference I feel after I put my makeup on. I feel more organized, put together, and am much more productive. Apparently, June Cleaver had the right idea. Even if you're going to be staying home, the house, or working hard, take a few moments to get yourself put together first. A little makeup will go a long way towards helping you get more work done faster. You don't have to overdo it - a little foundation, mascara, and a hint of eyeshadow will be just enough.

Make more money. There is plenty of evidence to support that attractive women make more money than unattractive women. While this is a sad state of affairs in our country, its something we can at least capitalize on. Make yourself prettier - and make more money. Use concealer and foundation to get a more even skin tone, and use bronzer and highlighter to contour your face to give the illusion of a more symmetrical, more beautiful face with better skin.

Feel prettier. Makeup makes you feel prettier. It can hide flaws, bring out your best features, and make you look and feel good. When we feel better about ourselves, we are better workers, better moms, better wives, and better friends. Wear the colors that make you feel pretty. If you have green eyes, try violet eye shadow. If you have blue eyes, try peach. Brown eyes look great in either.

Act more confident. Makeup bolsters your confidence. Going on a blind date? Wear a neutral eye with a classic red lip. Asking for a raise? Go for a neutral look that enhances your natural beauty. Going to a party? Have fun!

Whatever your makeup style, enjoy it! Know that it will make you look good, feel good, and play
a part in your success.
