5 Reasons Why Your Kids Should Have an Allowance

Idalia Benavides
It is imperative that you teach your kids early on about money and the value of it. Your children should get allowances once per month and they should be small allowances. In this article I will tell you about 5 reasons why it would be good if all kids could receive a monthly allowance.

- It will let them know you appreciate what they do and them
If you have your kids doing chores and you're getting on their case for everything they do and also for their school grades then giving them an allowance will let them know that you appreciate everything that they do and because of that you are going to share some of your money with them.

- You will be able to hold them to only spending that much a month
If your kids know that all they will get is a monthly allowance and that it's guaranteed to come each month, then you will be able to hold them to only that much money per month. Your kids won't ask you for money at other times except when allowance time comes, and if they do, you can always just deduct it from what you were going to give them.

- They will learn about budgeting
If you give your kids a monthly allowance and they have some things that they want to buy with that money already then they are going to learn to budget their money soon. They will realize that the money they have is not enough and therefore they need to buy only what's really necessary or what they really want and they can't get everything at the same time. If your kids learn to budget at an early age with their allowance, this will be something that can help them out for the rest of their lives.

- They will become very good at math
Kids love counting money. If you give them an allowance and they start saving up for a couple of months, they will be doing a lot of counting. That means that their math skills will become better as they start subtracting what something could cost or adding up more of what's to come. They will surely be doing this at least once or twice a month and if they are not yet good at math, you can be sure they will be.

- They will like their lives a little bit better
Usually when you ask a little kid why his life isn't what he/she wants it to be his answer has to do with him not having certain things or money to get those certain things. If you give your kids a couple of dollars a week or a month, he/she will start being more happy as they will they will have money of their own to buy the things they so badly want, but don't want to ask for.

I think that it is unfair that most kids dont get allowanes. I as well dont get allowane, but when i do get money i dont go and spend it all at once because we work for the money and it teaches us not to spend it all at once because my brother was 19 he stayed in the house and payed rent but he still didnt go crazy on the money. my parenst trusted him and now he has a gf and is taking her to the prom i hope that one day i will be just like my awsome brother!!!!!!!
