5 Reasons Why You Should Get Rid of Your Storage Facility

Mrs. Renee
Time and time again we see articles, with tips about getting storage, and how to minimize clutter in your home by using storage. What they don't mention however are the many reasons why you should consider getting rid of your storage facility. Below you will find five reasons why getting rid of your storage, or not getting any at all may be in your best interest.

Waste of money

Having a storage facility full of items that you don't use or need could really be a waste of money. Even if the monthly fee seems low, it does add up over a year's time. So instead of throwing your money out of the window, you can save a monthly fee by getting rid of the items you don't need in storage.

Unneeded clutter

Most of the items in the storage facility end up colleting a lot more dust than anything else. Take the time to go through your storage facility and really look at the items you have. See how many items you actually use, or plan on using. If there are items that will not fit in your home, and you are not likely to move any time soon, it may be worth it to sell the items.

Prevents real downsizing

Some families go through their home and start getting rid of items, due to the fact that they feel the need to downsize. If you want to really downsize than storing the items is not helping you accomplish this. It could simply be a matter of not being able to separate yourself from the items.

Fees do increase

Even though they may say that the fees are affordable this doe not mean that they stay this way. It has happened time and time again. The fees start out on the low side but can quickly increase if the storage facility starts having financial difficulties. This will cause even more damage to your budget. Some storage facilities do have contracts but if you read the fine print in some contracts they may be allowed an increase. This is why it is so important to make sure that you read through your contract thoroughly.

Miss a payment and lose it all

If you miss a payment at most storage facilities they can give you a limited amount of time to come up with the extra money. If you do not come up with the extra money you can lose all of your items that are in storage. Is it really worth it to risk losing everything, when your budget hit's a financial snag?
