5 Rudest Things People Do, Do You Find These Rude Too?

Vonda Menard
The world is full of rude behavior, some you overlook and go on about your day, but some intrude in your life, effecting your mood and well being. My list of the 5 rudest things people do, are as follow;

5. With the cost of movie tickets now in the neighborhood of $11-$12 a ticket, and popcorn, soda and candy the equivalent of dinner out, it's frustrating when you can't enjoy yourself, because certain people choose to talk throughout the movie. It seems no matter where I sit in the theatre, the talkers find me and place themselves directly in back of me. I don't understand what can be so pressing, that it can't wait 2 hours. Occasionally the talk will be about the film, and one of the talkers will say something like, "Oh my gosh, do you think he's going to kill her?" It seems every scene brings another question about the outcome of the movie. I want to turn and respond, "If we sit and watch, I'm sure all your questions will be answered," but that would be rude.

I just wish people would respect others and realize we have spent good money to watch and listen to a movie on the big screen, to get the total cinematic effect. We don't want to hear your conversations in the background, your opinions of the movie, or your constant questions. Just let us enjoy the film, free of your unscripted dialog.

4. Drivers throwing their cigarette ashes and butts out of the car, is rude and unnecessary. I know smokers have taken a lot of heat lately, and they are now regulated to smoking outside, or in their homes and cars for the most part. I don't personally have a problem with smokers, though I myself have never smoked. What I don't understand, is why you choose to litter the streets with cigarette butts, that can just as easily be placed in your car ashtray. I guess smokers don't want to dirty their nice clean ashtrays, but dirtying the earth, no big deal.

3. People who leave their grocery carts in the middle of the parking lot, are rude. With most grocery stores having carriage return stands set up throughout the parking lot, there's no reason, apart from laziness, not to return your cart. It's rude to leave your carriage in the middle of the lot, making it someone else's problem when they try and park in a spot occupied by an unreturned cart. If you don't like returning carts, think about using the home delivery service currently offered by many supermarkets.

2. Being an irresponsible pet owner is more then just rude, it's unfortunate for the animal. Dog owners who keep their dogs tied up for long periods of time and allow them to bark all night, keeping neighbors awake, are rude. Owners who don't "clean up" after their dogs during a walk, are rude. Pets are wonderful, and add joy and companionship to a household, but they are also a big responsibility, and when they are neglected they can become a nuisance to others.

1. The rudest thing people do, is blow their noise either next to you, or while your eating. I can't count how many times I've been seated in a restaurant and someone next to me will proceed to blow their nose for several seconds, then put the handkerchief, or napkin down and continue eating. This rude behavior has caused me to stop eating on a number of occasions. Just as no one wants to see you wipe yourself after using the bathroom, no one wants to listen to you remove a nose full of snot. Some things, like blowing your nose, should be done in private. Now a subtle wipe of the nose is okay, but please refrain from the full foghorn impersonation in public, especially in a public eating place.

    Dear Dave,
    I would put interrupting people as a pattern behavior way up higher than the shopping cart thing. Some people, young even, have chronic pain, just an example and man, take a vacation...people are schmucks. Interpersonal rudeness is far more personal than the actions of the other call them idiots we share this earth with!!
