#5 Do not walk alone
San Francisco during SF Pride is full of craziness and people. There are good party crazy people, and then scary crazy people. If you have never been to SF LGBT Pride before, please not that it is better to walk with a group during pride especially at night. Besides when you are with a big group there are more crazy things to do.
#4 If drinking, especially in public, think and act Responsibly
San Francisco LGBT Pride offers many, many, and many opportunities to drink and get totally wasted. With all the parties, and events to go to there are lots of drinks to spread around. Since most SF LGBT Pride Events are outside and in public areas, you are most likely to consume alcohol at these events. Just remember to "Definitely not DRINK AND DRIVE!" especially since SF already has some bad drivers. If you are also going to be drinking in a public area, I suggest being very subtle about it, especially since you can still be arrested for drunkenness in public.
#3 Do not start a fight during LGBT SF Pride, or bring weapons to the events
With thousands and thousands of people going to SF for LGBT Pride, it is definitely the best idea to fight. Think about it, there are thousands of people all in a medium confined space, and then someone then calls someone names, and next thing we know there is a fight. Fights are not necessarily good because they could easily start a riot. Riots are never good.
#2 Even if everyone else is doing it, it still may be illegal
During San Francisco LGBT Pride there are people walking around naked, smoking pot, drinking everywhere, and who knows what else. Just because everyone else is doing it, does not make it legal. However, the police usually turn their head away when it comes to drinking or smoking. However, I still would be very careful especially if you are not yet of age. The cops theoretically can arrest you or give you a ticket if you are doing any illegal activities.
#1 Have Safe Sex
This is one of my very important safety tips when going to LGBT Pride in SF. If you are planing to have sex no matter who you are, please be safe. Use a condom or pickup a dental dam. Either way it is always good to be protected from STD's. Having Safe Sex also decreases your chances to catch a STD or HIV.
So if you are planning on going to SF LGBT Pride 2009 in June I suggest you keep these safety tips in mind. These tips may be able to come in handy during pride if you really need them. Remember to enjoy and have fun!
