Spring and summer are just around the corner and weddings are going to be in high season. Gowns and dresses are coming out in an assortment of colors and styles giving brides greater selections to choose from. Each designer and retailer is carrying gowns for every occasion but the upcoming seasons are presenting the "little short dress." Although traditional gowns are available; many brides are opting for dresses with hemlines just above the knees and with flattering silhouettes. Check out these five short styles for bridesmaid dresses.

The twist bodice chiffon dress from Maggie of London is great for a guest or a bridesmaid at any wedding. Although this dress comes in black, it also comes in misty lavender. The color is soft but perfect for spring or summer. The bodice incorporates tonal paillettes to give new dimension to the dress. The twist front creates the illusion of a sweetheart neckline and has adjustable spaghetti straps with a pleated chiffon skirt. The skirt is 29" from the center of the dress to the hemline. The current price is $128 at Nordstroms.

Although the classic portrait collar dress by David's Bridal is found in the party dress collection it can make an ultra-elegant and extremely feminine bridesmaid dress. The shantung silk dress can be chosen in one of three colors: aqua, lime and teal. The dress is short sleeved and the collar extends so it's slightly off the shoulder leaving the neckline open for a bold necklace or a simple pendant. Although the skirt is full and pleated; the dress is completed with a slimming tie at the waistline. The current price of the dress is $89.00 and is an online dress only. Style: JH9M6436

Priscilla of Boston's line has many short styles available but the Melissa Sweet collection includes a whimsical flower bridesmaid dress that's soft and drapy with satin and net overlay. The dress has an empire waist and is adorned with a fabric flower grouping on the bust. The hemline is embellished with the same theme; creating the look of fallen petals. This bridesmaid dress comes in two colors, pinot nior satin/carbon net and tiramisu satin/portobello net and the current price is $268. STYLE MS322

For the black and white wedding the WToo bridesmaid gown can be purchased in a black on black sheath and ribbon duo. The sheath is in a simple, strapless style and can be worn again for other events. The waistline on this dress is natural and the hemline ends at the knees. Although this sheath can be purchased in a monochromatic look it comes in a multitude of colors and offers a waist ribbon that can be chosen in a different color to create a contrast. The current price of this dress is $200.Style No. 426

Lastly, the Suzi Chin Maggie Boutique silk dupioni sheath can be worn as a bridesmaid dress or for a special occasion. The dress is form fitting through the bust and hip and it's recommended to go up a size if your upper and lower sizes are different. The sheath gives the appearance of having a mini boat neck style neckline, has capped sleeves and is gathered at the waist with a silk dupioni rosette. The color of this dress is morning glory which is similar to a bright powder blue. The current price for this dress is $148 and can be found in Nordstroms.
