5 Signs You Should Quit Your Job

Knowing when to quit a job is not always easy. There are many things a person needs to take into consideration before taking such a big step. Quitting a job will affect your income and could also affect your ability to find another job in the future. Many people have quit jobs only to live with regret at doing so. It is very important to never quit your job in a heated moment. It is also important to always give at least a 2 week notice. There are times to quit a job and signs to look for that will let you know if it is time to quit your job:

-Lack of job satisfaction. If you get to the point where you dread going to work each day, you might want to consider quitting your job. It is important, however, to find another job first. Use your off time to revise your resume and network with others.

-No chance of promotion. If your job does not offer opportunities for advancement, then you may want to consider looking for a position somewhere else. It is important to have chances for growth and opportunity at your place of employment.

-Pay does not grow with your job responsibilities. If your job responsibilities continue to grow, but your pay remains the same, then it may be time to find another job that offers you more performance-based pay.

-Ethical or illegal activities at your job. If you know that your place of employment is involved in illegal activity of any kind, it is time to separate yourself from that job. Even if you are not directly responsible for anything that is going on, just the fact that you have knowledge could make you guilty by association. You could also be setting yourself up to be a scapegoat or a witness in a criminal proceeding. This is a situation in which you might very well consider leaving your job without notice.

-Your boss has it in for you. If, for some reason, your boss simply does not like you, it might be best to look for another job. If your boss does not like you, chances are you will be blamed for anything that goes wrong. Your boss will be looking for the slightest infraction from you so that you can be terminated. In some states, your boss does not have to even state a reason as to why you are being terminated.

Quitting your job is serious, but it doesn't have to be a negative experience. Make sure you are prepared before you quit, and the experience will be less traumatic.
