5 Sites Every Writer Should Belong To

Chelle
Breaking out as a freelance writer can be a difficult task. Fortunately there are several sites that can help you gain exposure and help you earn more revenue from your articles.

Here are 5 sites every writer should consider joining:

1. Mylot:http://www.mylot.com/
Mylot is a fantastic site where members are paid to post discussion topics and respond to disussions. They pay members for content that is posted on the site, but there is far more value in the site than just that! It is a great source of inspiration for writer's block, a network of people willing to read your Associated Content and other articles, and members will introduce you to many other websites and writing places to help you get more exposure and paid for your writing. I wish I would have found this site sooner!

2. Gather:http://www.gather.com
Gather is an interesting site where users submit posts and can then forward them to the members of small groups with similar interests on the site. There are several groups for Associated Content, as well as thousands more for other popular subjects and topics. This is a great way to meet other writers and help each other.

3.Squidoo:http://www.squidoo.com
Squidoo is an unusual site in the way that instead of having "pages" or "articles" you create a lens. This lens can be about anything and can feature many fun widgets such as YouTube Videos, Wikipedia articles, RSS Feeds and more. You also have the opportunity to earn based on advertising revenue as well as from items you sell on Amazon.com or Ebay from your lens. Squidoo is a great place to create a lens about yourself, subjects you frequently write about, and more.

4. Social Bookmarking Sites:http://digg.com, http://del.icio.us
These sites are a great way to increase your traffic on your articles and sites. Other sites worth mentioning are ma.gnolia.com, mixx.com, technorati.com, stumbleupon.com and many more.

5. Your own personal blog or webpage
Having your own site is like your business card and portfolio you can share easily with just about everyone. You can create your site on your own domain, or pick from many free host sites or blogging platforms. Wordpress.com is a popular choice amongst writers, though you have the opportunity to earn ad revenue from Blogger.com. On your site you can post your links to your articles, the different sites you belong to, and other examples of your work. Having your own site establishes credibility and helps you further your online writing career.
