Tip # 1 Music
Play some music, not rock and roll or hip hop, but something relaxing. Music tames the wildest beast-provided it's quality. Loud jarring music such as rock and roll can kill plants and trees. It is not good for your system. Put on something calming and soothing and it will not only relax your body, but soothe your mind.
Tip # 2 Laughter
The saying laughter is the best medicine is really true. Children laugh about 300 times a day, whereas, us adults only laugh about 17 times a day. Isn't that horrible? Once we hit college age and started to conform to society, it ruined us. We get old, tired, boring and it's bad on our bodies. So laugh. Even if there is nothing to laugh at, no one to share the laughs with, just do it. Once you start, it's really funny that you have nothing to laugh at and that in fact becomes funny. It's a great stress reducer.
Tip # 3 Turn Off The News
Unless everything is sunny, wine and roses and perfect. Most of the time it's news about the war, who killed who, companies cheating people out of money, and this celebrity or that celebrity going in a downward spiral. It's depressing! Depressing things make you feel sad, upset and can put a damper on your day. Unless the sky is falling and you need to run for cover, don't watch the news.
Tip # 4 Choose Movies Wisely
Just like the news, movies can have the same effect on you. Horror flicks, suspense and the like aren't good for you. The mind is like a movie camera and replays the things you've watched. It can mix things all up and mess with your emotions. I'm not saying all you should watch are comedies and cartoons, but there are nice movies out there, that will give you a good feeling after having seen it.
Tip # 5 Take Breaks
We all have jobs, families and obligations and very little 'me' time. Make time for yourself each and everyday to have some fun doing what you like. Maybe you like to take naps. Having a nap will make you feel refreshed upon waking. Perhaps you like walking, reading a book or playing basketball. Whatever it is do it, and it'll chip away at the stress you're enduring.
