Many people really enjoy painting with different types of paint. Watercolor Painting is an art that can be shared with kids and a hobby for someone that wants to express their creative side. Watercolor painting is an activity that's being introduced in schools to children and part of the curriculum at summer camp. Furthermore, many people have a hard time expressing their true feelings and this can be done through watercolor painting. This article will focus on water painting and some tips that will make better paintings.
  1. Washing/Wetting Technique. This is a technique in watercolors that requires the canvas or paper to be wet before using paint. You can take a cloth or napkin to wet the entire paper. In addition, you will need to mix enough pigment to cover the paper. Furthermore, you would start at the top applying the pigment. Moreover, you would leave the paper to dry.
  2. Dropping in color Technique. This technique can be use with Washing/Wetting Technique. This is a process that allows the water colors to naturally bleed. The results from this process can be unpredictable. I would suggest testing the process and try to obtain the desired results.
  3. Wet in Wet Technique. This is a process of filling a brush with a pigment and applies the brush to wet paper. Wet in Wet Technique can be applied to other dried washes. You will need to slightly wet the area with a large brush. This is a great technique to use for background areas.
  4. Dry Brush Technique. Dry Brush Technique is the opposite of Wet in Wet Technique and requires dry paper. You will need some pigment, a little water, a brush and dry paper. In addition you will slowly drag the brush across the paper to create a fresh mark.
  5. Lifting Off. Lifting Off is a fun and creative technique to use with watercolor painting. The process is very simple which requires putting the pigment on the paper and blotting with some tissue.

Watercolor paint can seem difficult to a beginner but it's easy with a little training. There are books and classes available on the basics of watercolor painting. It's important to spend a lot of time practicing when doing watercolor painting for the first time. These techniques can be used by beginners or advance watercolor artist. Many watercolor artists spend a lot of time trying different techniques to find out what will work with their paintings.
