5 Things to Consider when Choosing a Vacation Destination for Two

Lindsey Russell
Are you eager to take a much-needed vacation, but unsure of where you'd like to go? Here are 5 things to consider when planning a vacation.

1. How comfortable are you and your significant other with traveling outside of the country?

While you might have spent many months traveling all over the world, your significant other might not be so comfortable with international travel. On the other hand, you might both be jetsetters eager to see more of your own country. Either way, deciding whether you'd like to travel internationally or with the U.S. is one big decision that needs to be made.

2. What type of climate do you both enjoy?

You want the beach, sun, and mixed drinks, but he wants snow, ice, and a chance to ski. Hopefully, you'll be able to come to some compromise. Of course, it is easy if you both enjoy the same types of activities and same types of vacations. If not, it looks like you are going to have to trade off.

3. What activities are you planning?

Now that you've decided what type of vacation you'd like to take and where you'd like to possibly go, it is time to decide what type of activities you'd both like to participate in. This can be a challenge. As with anything else in a relationship, it takes compromise. If you both love the same type of activities, you are set. However, if not, you both might have to compromise somewhat. Fortunately, in most relationships, there are at least a few things that you like to do together. The best couples vacations are planned around those.

4. When can you both go?

Today, this can be one of the trickiest aspects of planning a getaway for two, unless you both happen to be self-employed. There are pros and cons to both planning your vacation far in advance and planning a spur of the moment getaway. However, when it comes to planning a romantic vacation for two, spur of the moment planning can really add to the mood. If you can get away with it, give it your best shot.

5. What is your price range?

Unfortunately, this is reality for most people. You will probably need to budget for any vacation you wish to take. How much do you wish to spend? How much are you willing to put into this vacation. What it comes down to for most people is whether they want to take a few smaller vacations a year or one much larger one. Of course, one of the most popular way to plan your vacation today is to do it yourself on-line; you truly can save a great deal of money.

By taking a little bit of time to truly think about what you want out of a romantic weekend for two, and what you can reasonably spend, you can make the most of it, whether you want to go on the spur of the moment or want to take a year to plan it.
