Making Father's Day Memorable

With Father's Day just around the corner, you might be wondering what you can do to show your dad just how much he means to you. If you're tired of buying ties, tools and car supplies, rest assured that there are a variety of other ways you can show your dad how important he is.

1. Think about what your dad enjoys the most and make a day of it! Does he like playing baseball? Take him to a local baseball game or buy tickets for his favorite major league team. Is it fishing that your dad enjoys? Plan the day around his hobby to ensure a fun and memorable Father's Day! For example, if your dad enjoys fishing, visit the closest lake in your area and if possible, rent a fishing boat from the local marina. Pack a picnic to eat while on the lake and don't forget his favorite beverage! If you're looking for a Father's Day gift, keep with the theme. In this case, a new tackle box, fishing pole or fishing accessories would be nice. In addition, a gift certificate for a deep sea fishing trip might be right up your dad's alley!

2. Fire up the grill! It's a well-known fact that most men enjoy grilling out. Surprise your dad with steaks, chicken, ribs or whatever his favorite meat is for a cook-out that is sure to rock his socks! On this special day, however, offer to cook for your dad! Pull him up a lawn chair and encourage him to relax while you do the cooking. You might want to surprise your dad with a new grill or one of a variety of grill accessories that are available at home improvement stores, wholesale shops and department stores.

3. What could be better than putting on some "play clothes" and gathering a few supplies for a car wash? Dad is sure to enjoy driving a clean car, especially one that was cleaned by you! While you're cleaning the car, take some time to enjoy one another and play in the hose. Looking for a Father's Day gift to give to the car lover in your life? Consider a gift card to have his car professional detailed, new seat covers or floor mats or maybe even a GPS!

4. Surprise your dad with a weekend getaway to a favorite destination or somewhere that he has shown an interest in going. Obtain a map of the area that you are going and wrap the map for him to open. When he opens the gift and realizes where he is going, ask him to pack a travel bag and forget his worries! In advance, plan a fun outing or a nice dinner out at this location to make the getaway more enjoyable for dad.

5. Say cheese! That's right....put your best smiles on and have a photo shoot with your dad. Dress alike or dress like each other for memories to last a lifetime! You might consider hiring a professional photographer for this photo shoot or you might ask a friend or family member to assist you. Pack a variety of props and think outside the box for this special photo shoot. When the shoot is over, have the pictures printed and place them in a photo album or create a scrapbook that your dad will cherish forever.

No matter what you decide to do with your dad for Father's Day, make the day enjoyable by spending quality time together and making memories that you will look back on with love and laughter.
