If you are planning to walk daily or several miles you will want to take care of your feet especially when choosing shoes to walk with. Cheap shoes with poor support will cause you more problems in the long run than if you chose the correct shoes for walking. Walking shoes and running shoes are similar. Since you will be putting a lot of stress on your feet and joints you will want to make sure that you have great shoes.

Things that you will want to look for in walking shoes.

1. Gel pads on the bottom of the sole will help insulate the shock of walking to your body. These are like the shock absorbers in shoes. Having gel pads in the bottom of your shoes will make it more comfortable and also easier on your body for you while walking. If your shoes don't have built in gel soles, you can buy these over the counter. Gel soles are a must for walking and comfort.

2. At the back of the shoe, you will want to make sure that it's padded also. When your foot hits the back of the shoe you don't want it to rub and cause problems for you. Most walking shoes now have the padding on the back of the shoes. If you wore shoes without this padding and you walked some you will soon appreciate that extra padding.

3. The front of the shoe you will want it to be roomy, and boxed so that your toes will not be cramped and cause problems for you down the road. If your toes are smashed together they will hurt in the middle of the walk.

4. Leather is great for the outside of shoes, giving flexibility and movement while keeping your feet comfortable.

5. Durability. Your shoes will need to walk several miles maybe you will be walking several miles in one day you want to make sure that your shoes keep up with you.

Walking is a great way to lose weight, to improve your health. Make sure that your shoes keep up with your goal. Always try to get the best shoe that you can afford that will last as long as you walk.
