5 Things to Do in Los Angeles in October

Cruise the Streets!

Felix Saint

Cruise Mulholland Drive: One of the world's most famed scenic drives, Mulholland winds from the Hollywood Hills across the backbone of the Santa Monica Mountains west to the Pacific Ocean. You will see mountains and deserts and sweeping views of the city.

Walk the city of Venice: The most amazing street entertainers in the world are here including chainsaw jugglers, swamis on rollerblades, street dancers and more. Check out Venice Beach under the warmth of sun and along the breaking waves of the Southern California coastline.

Discover fossil fun: The La Brea Tar Pits in Hancock Park is the site of the richest discovery of Ice Age fossils in the world with more than 100 tons of fossilized bones representing nearly 400 species of mammals, birds, reptiles and fish in pools of sticky asphalt dating back to prehistoric time.

Step back in time 100 years: The Victorian era had its influence on local architecture, as evidenced by the homes in the 1300 block of Carroll Avenue in Angeleno Heights. Angelino Heights is second only to Bunker Hill as the oldest district in Los Angeles. Founded in 1886, it was originally connected to the downtown mainline by a small spur line of the cable car and later, electric streetcar. Like Echo Park proper and Chinatown.

Hike the Urban Trail: At any given time of day or night, the renovated walking path around the Silver Lake Reservoir is filled with joggers walkers, strollers and dogs on leashes. With a crushed granite surface, the flat, two-mile path has become an outdoor gym for residents of the artsy neighborhood.
