5 Things People Do to Keep the Weight On

Keith Riffle
If you are reading this article, you are probably someone who is trying to lose weight. But what kinds of things are you doing to either maintain your current weight, or gain more weight? If you are not aware of what these things are, here are some reminders:

1. Spending Too Much Time In The Drive Through

Drive thrus are a convenient way to load your body with fat, sugar, and calories...at an expensive price as well. If you find yourself pulling up to the drive through more than once a week, chances are, you will maintain your current weight, or gain more weight. Oh, and by the way, going to the drive through is not any healthier at breakfast times. It usually only amounts to a little more egg protein to go with your fat!

2. Eating Out At Lunch

If you frequently go out to lunch, this is a bad thing. It doesn't matter if you go to a fast food establishment or a sit down restaurant, the results are the same: you eat great tasting food which is horrible for your body. If you want to lose weight, eating out at lunch will definitely not help your cause! Instead, bring your lunch to work in a brown bag.

3. Eating Too Many Cookies, Chips, And Crackers

Isn't it amazing that an entire isle at the grocery store is overflowing with cookies and crackers? Isn't it even more amazing that there is usually half of an additional isle devoted to chips? Do you know what cookies, crackers, and chips are best at? They make you fat! Yes, crackers are the lesser of the three evils, but they are still loaded with fat and sodium. If you want to lose weight, stay clear of these isles, because they are one of your worst fat loss enemies!

4. Loading Up On The Ground Beef

Most people do not realize that 1 pound of "80% lean" ground beef contains approximately 92 grams of fat. If you find this too hard to believe, just look at the label. 23 grams a fat per serving multiplied by 4 servings is equal to 92 grams of fat! Considering that many people can eat at least half a package of ground beef at one setting (some people can eat the whole pound!), "lean" ground beef should hardly be considered a health food. Don't let words like "lean" fool you. Rather, read the label and do the math!

5. Drinking Too Much Pop

"Pop" or "soda" is not exactly a healthy smoothie. Most pop is loaded with high fructose corn syrup, and it is not uncommon for people to drink two or three 12 ounce cans or 20 ounce bottles a day. It doesn't help that most fast food chains and convenience stores have "super sizes"...and by the way, contrary to popular belief, the diet stuff isn't any healthier for you. If you can kick the soda pop habit and start drinking more water, that alone can be the difference in 5 to 10 pounds a month!

These are just a couple of things that many people who are over weight can't seem to stop doing. However, if you can practice some discipline and learn to eat healthier, you can develop some good habits and shed some pounds!
