5 Things You Can Do for Stress Relief

Lacey Wills
What are some things you can do for stress relief? If you ask a few people, you would probably get a different answer each time. Everyone has his or her own favorite stress relief tactic. Prolonged stress can be very unhealthy for you and it is far easier to manage your stress than you might think.

Here are my top 5 stress relief techniques:

Learn to think positively. Negative thoughts are only going to add to your stress! Replace those negative thoughts with positive ones. Teach yourself to speak

positive affirmations about your life and before you know it, you will be thinking and acting on the positive thoughts. You should find that your life flows more smoothly.

Find a healthy balance in your life. Drop the things that aren't totally necessary and you may find your stress level dropping at least in half. This can also free up some time to do some things you really want to do. Remember that hobby you were thinking of getting started with? Give yourself permission to have some fun with it. Hobbies can be very relaxing.

Take a nice hot soak in the bathtub. Create your own very personalized spa experience with some bath salts or bubble bath, a little soft music and throw in some candlelight for ambience. Lock the door, ditch your phone, and soak those troubles away.

Get a massage. (this is a personal favorite) Go for the gold and get a full body massage! Smooth those knotty, tired, muscles and release that tension. Be sure to drink lots of water to get rid of toxins afterward and you will feel like a new person.

Why not head over to the nail salon for a quick change of attitude. Get yourself a nice soothing manicure and pedicure. There are pressure points in your hands and feet that will help release some of that tension as they are massaged, plus you will look great!

These are some of my favorite things to do for stress relief. They may or may not appeal to you, or you may want to 'tweak' them to suit you. The important thing to do is take action to help reduce and manage the stress in your life. If the stress is long term and you don't seem to be able to get it under control on your own, please seek the advice of your healthcare provider as soon as possible.
