5 Things Wine is Good for Besides Drinking

Rebecca Bardelli

The first thing that usually comes to mind at the mention of wine is drinking. If you are not a wine drinker, you can still enjoy wine in other ways. If you are a wine drinker, you will be excited to find new ways to enhance your wine drinking experience.

Wine Collection for Future Resell

Collect wine to resell it in years to come. When going to a grocery store you will notice most wines sold are within a few years of the current year. The older the year of wine the more expensive the wine is to purchase. Companies exist to help you with your wine storage if you do not want to store it at home.

Decorating With Wine Bottles

Wine can make for a beautiful display. Several varieties of wine racks are available to choose from and can aid in decorating with wine bottles. A wall mounted wine rack is simple yet elegant. Bouquet wine racks are also very decorative and make the wine bottles appear as a bouquet of flowers.

Drunken Fruit (Wine Soaked Fruit)

Soak fruit in a sweet wine to give it another dimension of flavor. Serving drunken fruit with wine at a party makes for good pairing. Choose sweet wines such as Moscato or White Zinfandel with a low alcohol percentage such as Sutter Home White Zinfandel. Pinot Grigio goes well with fruit as well. Grapes, strawberries and watermelons are great choices for drunken fruit. Strawberries and watermelon pair well with White Zinfandel. Green grapes go well with Moscato or Pinot Grigio.

Calming Wine Ice cubes

Make calming wine ice cubes. Several things can be done with wine ice cubes. Wine ice cubes can be used in the same kind of wine. Instead of chilling White Zinfandel serve with White Zinfandel ice cubes.

Add one or two wine ice cubes to lemon lime soda to help calm nerves.

When the kids are eating pop-cycles and you are feeling stressed why not enjoy a wine pop-cycle or a wine ice cube. When it is hot outside a frozen wine treat may be just what you need.

Use Red Wine in Spaghetti Sauce

Adding red wine in spaghetti sauce adds a unique flavor. Marsala , Cabernet, or Merlot are good choices when choosing a wine to add to spaghetti sauce. Only a small amount of wine is needed to enhance the flavor of the spaghetti sauce. Start by adding about a half cup of wine. You can always add more but you can't take it out.

Enjoy your wine creations!
