Is your bedroom lacking in the romance department? Adding romance in the bedroom doesn't have to be expensive or stressful. Unfortunately, whether due to lack of money, inspiration or time, this is the most neglected room in the house when it comes to decorating the home. With the use of some creativity and these five decorating tips, you can easily add romance and bring back that feeling of love to your space.

Five Tips to Add Romance in the Bedroom #1-Eliminate Clutter and Disorder

Keep disorder to a minimum in the room. A messy room is not a romantic room. There is nothing appealing or relaxing about retiring to the bedroom with your lover, only to climb into an unmade bed or climb over piles of clothing and other items. Don't allow this room to become a dumping ground for items that belong elsewhere. Make full use of storage options such as closets, bedside stands and decorative baskets to contain and hide the clutter.

Five Tips to Add Romance in the Bedroom #2-Create the Mood with Color

One of the most dramatic and inexpensive ways to enhance the mood of the bedroom is to use paint to add color. The paint choice is a matter of color preference but try stay with softer, more neutral hues of color on the wall. Relaxing colors, such as blue and green, are good decorating choices, but avoid overuse one particular color in the room. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing when it comes to decorating. Introduce the more vibrant, complimentary colors in the bed linens, pillows, curtains, and decorating accessories.

Five Tips to Add Romance in the Bedroom #3-Make the Bed the Focal Point of the Room

The most important piece of bedroom furniture is the bed. Therefore, it only makes sense to decorate the room in a way that brings attention to the bed. Don't hide it away in a corner. Position it in a location that allows it to be the focal point of the room. Layer the bed with soft bedding and coordinating pillows. Hang a canopy above the bed or drape a curtain behind the headboard to attract greater focus to the bed. It's not necessary for the bedroom linens to be expensive, only comfortable and attractive. The goal is simply to create a bed that's inviting.

Five Tips to Add Romance in the Bedroom #4-Introduce Romantic Lighting

Avoid using bright, harsh lights in the bedroom. Small light sources add intimate shadows and plays of illumination. They enhance the feeling of love and romance in the bedroom. Use candles, small lamps and kerosene lanterns to set the mood. When using bedside lamps, change out light bulbs with low-wattage or colored bulbs (rose or amber colors work well) to offer dim and romantic lighting.

Five Tips to Add Romance in the Bedroom #5-Satisfy the Senses

The human senses are strong and greatly affect emotions and actions. Add romance to the bedroom by incorporating elements in the area that appeal to and heighten all of the senses. Following the first four tips will meet some of those needs. For instance, the bedding is soft to the touch and attractive to the eyes. Simple decorating elements such as scented candles will please the senses of sight and smell. Add soft-playing love songs or other relaxing sounds to the environment.

These five decorating tips are only a few of the ways you can add romance in the bedroom. They give the basic structure to get you started. Now, enlist your imagination and romantic ideas to bring the air of love back to your bedroom.
