5 Tips for College Students Who Ride a Shuttle to Campus

Idalia Benavides
When college students get started with their college journey, they are sure to realize that getting parking on campus isn't the easiest thing to do. They will also realize that using the campus shuttles is the easiest and fastest way to get around campus and to and from their parking spaces and dorm complexes. Because of this, you should tip off or take the tips I'm going to talk about below into consideration when using the campus shuttles.

- Don't sit in the back
Have you ever sat in the backseats of a bus before? Well if you have then you know that they're the worse places to sit because you will feel a lot of movement. Now that you know that, you should know that college campuses usually have a lot of speed humps all over, meaning that the commotion that's going to go on in the back of the bus is going to be huge. You should also realize that if you sit in the back of the shuttle it will most likely take you about 5 minutes to get off from it at the campus stop, especially during the mornings when the shuttles are over-stuffed.

- Try to stand in the front of the line
When you're waiting for the shuttle at your dorm complex or at campus and you see it coming, get up right away and form a line to get on. Always try to be at the beginning of it to ensure that you can get a front seat. If you're at the end of the line you are sure to have to get a back seat or no seat at all.

- Get to the shuttle stop at least 5 minutes before it's supposed to get there.
This is sometimes not possible, but if you're able to get to the shuttle stop at least 5 minutes before it's supposed to get there, do it! This will help you to be at the front of the line when it gets there and it will also help you to not be in a rush to get to the shuttle. If you are early you will not have to make runs to it when you see it leaving and you will also not have to stand up of it; the standing up usually happens when all the seats are full.

- Don't leave anything behind
If you leave something behind on the campus shuttle you can pretty much consider it gone forever . Unless there's someone there who is nice and polite and decides to turn in your lost item to the shuttle driver you're out of luck. Make sure to not leave anything that's valuable to you behind in the shuttles ever! Keep your things in your hands, backpacks, purses, wallets, or pockets at all times.

- Say Thank You, Good Morning, Good Afternoon, or Good Evening to the bus driver on a daily basis.
Having the courtesy to say a nice comment to the shuttle bus driver is a must. If you can build a nice "hi and bye" relationship with the shuttle driver you are sure to not get ugly faces or left behind even if you're seen. Always make sure to smile when you look at the driver in the eyes as you get off or get on. Don't forget to say thank you also, and maybe even add an extra comment every now and then.
