5 Tips for Letting Go of Someone You Love

Michelle Knudson
It is never easy to let go of someone you love. We must realize that letting go of someone is part of life. People walk out of life for a variety of reasons. Sometimes he or she leaves you the reason behind it has nothing to do with you. It could be personal. It could be a career move. It could be a number of reasons. Here are five tips for letting go of someone you love.

Accept It

Don't rack your head trying to figure out why. You sometimes will never know the answer to why. Just accept it that the person is gone. He or she might not be happy being gone, but unless you ask then you don't know. Don't assume that he or she hates you, but you have to accept their decision to leave. You can not make someone stay that doesn't want to be there anymore.

Don't Base Your Life On One Person

Some people base their whole entire life on one person at the moment. You shouldn't put your dreams on hold for another person since the end result is resentment. Your life goes on with or without them being there so don't put everything on hold due to him or her.

Happy Memories

You will always have some happy memories of that person. Keep those in mind when you start to wonder whether or not the person hates you. Think about it for a few minutes. He or she wouldn't of been in your life in the first place unless they liked you at one point. Keep the pictures. Don't burn the pictures otherwise you'll most likely have feelings of regret later on.

No Contact

It may sound cruel, but the person probably doesn't want to hear from you during the year. If the person is fine with you sending them a card then feel free to do so. If the person has asked you to not send them anything whatsoever then make sure to not send any cards or gifts at all whatsoever. You don't want to hold that person back from being happy. Perhaps they aren't happy about not being around you so its just a constant reminder of you. Perhaps they are trying to move on with their life so therefore they don't want to receive anything from you each year saying happy holidays or birthday.

The Person Remembers Happy Memories Too

The person will always remember happy memories as well. Don't go thinking that she or he has forgotten about you or something. You at one time meant something to them otherwise they wouldn't of been there. Several years later or months something will remind them of a good memory with you. They haven't tossed pictures of you out the window either in the most situations.
