5 Tips on How to Prevent Domestic Violence

Michelle Knudson
It is important to prevent arguments and situations from escalating into a dangerous point. It is important to stay in control of one self and not let things get crazy. Here are five tips on how to prevent domestic violence.

Leave Your Spouse When He Hits Walls

Do not spend the night at your home when he hits the walls over an argument since it might lead to worse things. Make sure to pack your bags and leave no matter how small of an issue it seems at the time. Make sure to go stay at a friends house whenever your spouse commits domestic violence such as hitting things so that he doesn't end up hitting you too.

Keep Local Abused Women Shelter Telephone Number In Your Cell Phone

The local women shelter in your area will be able to provide a taxi cab to pick you up no matter where you are at in the area. You need to keep the local women shelter number in your cell phone all the time. Most women shelters work with the police department hand in hand to help you leave the bad situation.

Keep Records of Previous Arrests and Protective Orders

Keep records in your purse or bag of any previous arrests regarding your abusive husband. Keep a copy of any protective orders in your purse as well. You want to keep any probation papers available to show to the officers just in case your husband needs to get arrested again for domestic violence if he hits you. Install hidden video cameras through the house to have proof of the abuse that happens in the home towards you.

Leave Before It Gets Heated

Heated arguments turn into physical attacks in most cases. You don't want to end up in jail for letting an argument get out of hand. Leave the room or whenever you are at whenever an argument occurs. Don't even take the chance of being your spouse if the argument is about another woman or man since domestic violence frequently happens at that time.

Don't Argue In The Bedroom

The bedroom is where domestic violence often occurs. Most people don't see it due to nobody else being around at the time when your husband attacks you. The argument started out something small that ended up being turned into something big.
