You two have been together for a while, feeling like the dating needs some recharge? Well you have come to the right place. For recharging your dating life ideas, I have interviewed therapist Jenny Grace Shaw, M.ED, CPT, CWS.
Tell me a little bit about yourself.
"I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor on the island of Maui. I have several years experience working with children, adolescents, families, and couples who struggle with Anxiety, Depression, Learning Challenges, Addictions, Trauma, Eating Disorders, Self-Harm, Abuse, and Self-Esteem. I am blessed by all those I meet; to be able to hear their journey even when struggles occur. For their strength is the true definition of the word 'awesome.'
It is my deepest pleasure to help guide them towards their personal, professional, academic, and spiritual goals; their authentic self. When they clarify of their own power returns to their consciousness, self-love is preciously recognized. My dear ones, Never Underestimate the Power of You!"
What happens to the dating life of couples that have been together for a long time?
"When couples have been together for quite some time, 'life' and responsibilities tend to take focus and dating, intimacy, personal needs slowly, but surely wind up hiding in the corner. It's up to you two to communicate your needs and come together as a team. It may sound ridiculous, but to claim at least one night a week as your 'date' night is a wonderful strategy to handle this dilemma."
What are some tips for a couple that wants to recharge their dating life?
"The following are 5 tips for recharging your dating life:
1. Shake it up a bit, if he is the one who usually makes all of the plans, now it's your turn ladies (and vice versa)!
2. Sign up for a dance class. This will guarantee to get you two out once a week, swinging the night fantastic. If your not into dancing then register for a sports team with the loving addition of sweaty lovemaking afterwards rather than going out with the team or rushing back home and back to reality.
3. Join a writing or book club. Delegating intimate reading and writing dates; reconnecting.
4. Go back to basics. Remember what turned you on about her (him) to begin with; dial into that emotion and bring it to life all over again. You may know she is going to be out for cocktails with her girls friends one night, sneak up behind her, sit down next to her (if possible) and make a pass at her -- .yep, you guessed it, pick her up all over again!
5. Ladies, our men deserve to be treasured too so open the doors for them when they are walking through, ask them out, get down on one knee and renounce your love, send them flowers, buy them a spa day; romance is never one sided. Just go for it!"
