Tips:
1. Don't lose professionalism
This is very important. If you have a certain professional attitude while you're in the office, don't lose that completely at the company party or dinner; instead just try to act more casual. Don't go all out and act like yourself 100%, remember that people are always watching and they will talk.
2. Beware of the alcohol
If you know that you can't handle your drinks, don't drink at all. If you know that you can handle your drinks, minimize your consumption. Having one or two drinks is fine, but more than that is just pushing it. You never want to be known as the person who drank to much and caused a scene; if you feel that this is something that might happen to you advise the person who's accompanying you to not let you drink too much.
3. Take a date or a friend
Don't show up alone if you're invited to an event were you're allowed to take someone with you. Even if it's a sibling, cousin, or best friend, always take someone with you for support and to make sure that you're not alone in case something happens.
4. Don't forget to greet
This is incredibly important. Don't show up to a party or dinner without greeting everyone you know. Don't leave the party either without thanking the host for inviting you. Always say thanks and make a nice comment towards the decorations, food, etc..
5. Wear proper clothing
This will be most likely what causes gossip. What you wear should always be something that isn't going to cause mass talk amongst your co-workers. You don't want to go all out, but also don't dress as if you're going to work. Wear something nice, and always make sure to have something to put over yourself in case it gets cold.
Now that you know these tips, make sure to enjoy yourself during the company outing as much as possible. Remember that anything that you might regret the next day you have to work is probably something you shouldn't do. Be careful of your actions as they might bring upon some not so pleasant consequences.
