5) National Lampoons Christmas Vacation (1989)
Starring: Chevy Chase, Beverly D'Angelo, Randy Quaid and Juliette Lewis
Chevy Chase stars in this movie and it is so very funny and is a part of Christmas around our house every year. It is Christmas time and the Griswolds are getting prepared for a family celebration. Chevy wants to go all out with decorations. He also invites many family members to make this a Christmas to remember. Some unexpected family members show to the celebration and as always the Griswolds plans do not turn out as expected. Even though I have watched this movie every year since its release in 1989 I still tune in whenever it is on and still laugh at all the scenes that I have saw many times before.
4) TheSantaClause(1994)
Starring: Tim Allen
This movie was released in 1994 and has became a family must see every Christmas season in households every where. Mine included. Tim Allen's character, Scott Calvin is chosen to step in and take over being Santa Clause when something happens to Santa. Scott has a lot of doubt about his beliefs in the whole Santa Clause thing and really doesn't like much anything associated with Christmas. Slowly though Scott starts growing a beard and belly and it isn't long before he looks just like Santa Clause. The Santa Clause is filled with laugh out loud humor as well as being heartfelt and showing how important family and the Christmas spirit is.
3) Home Alone (1990)
Starring: Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci
Home Alone is a great Christmas movie. If you are looking for laugh out loud humor based around the Christmas season then Home Alone is a must see. A large family is going on vacation with a lot of kids in tow. The morning they are due to leave the family is running late and everything is chaotic. One of the kids, Kevin, played by Macaulay Culkin is left behind. When Kevin realizes he has been forgotten he is very happy because he was mad at his family anyway. Now though Kevin must run the entire house and defend his home and himself from robbers all without letting any one discover he is Home Alone. Kevin ends u realizing how much he loves and misses his family. Home Alone delivers with one laugh right after another.
2) Christmas Comes to Willow Creek (1987)
Starring: John Schneider and Tom Wopat
If you watched the "Dukes of Hazzard" than you know who John Schneider and Tom Wopat are. They team up again for the Christmas movie "Christmas Comes to Willow Creek".
They both work for the same trucking company and they do not get along. The owner of the trucking company sends a truck load of presents back to his home town each Christmas. This year however his health prevents it and the brothers are instructed to make the delivery together.
Along the way the brother face many things that make them rethink their differences and they end up working through their differences and treasuring what they have together as brothers.
I love this movie and every year we make sure to watch this inspiring Christmas movie. It is a warm fuzzy movie that reminds us how special family is.
1) Smoky Mountain Christmas (1986)
Directed by Henry Winkler and starring Dolly Parton, John Ritter and Lee Majors.
Country music super star Dolly Parton stars in this movie. She plays Lorna Davis who is also a country music super star who is completely stressed and overwhelmed by loneliness and her career. She escapes to a friend's cabin in the Smokey Mountains for the Christmas season.
However, when Lorna arrives at the cabin she discovers that seven orphaned children are hiding out in the cabin, so the orphanage can't find them and separate the siblings. The children and Lorna agree to keep each others secrets and they grow to love each other. There is a lot of heart and soul in this movie. If I were to watch only one movie during the Christmas season Smoky Mountain Christmas, would be the one I would choose.
