5 Top Country New Artists

New country artists to watch in 2010 may require a look at what is 'new'. There have been people recognized in award shows as new that actually have 10 or more years in music but the second cd is a definition of 'new' - indeed this has been the case in 'best new entertainer' awards in recent years.

However best new entertainer is often those musicians who have but a few CDs out. There are several talented acts in country music ready to step up. They have solid followings on their own, they have an independent sound that works for them and they write or choose songs that work for them.

If you haven't heard these or seen them in concert what are you waiting for?! They're talented and have music out with new music on the way.

Stephen Cochran leads the list here. His debut cd was solid country and the sophomore one is sure to be the same. The first single/video is "WalMart Flowers" and at this writing the second cd is being put together. If you haven't seen a Stephen Cochran show do yourself a favor - find a place that needs a country band and book this one. He can do cover songs but really shines when doing his own music. With songs from the first cd that include "Friday Night Fireside" and "Everything We Knew" as well as the incredible tribute "When A Hero Falls" his show is high energy with some slower standouts included as well. Deserving of the spotlight headlining or opening it's a show you don't want to miss! Find a show - book a show - whatever it takes get to a Stephen Cochran show. It's worth a trip from anywhere.

Trailer Choir - if you see them you will not forget them. They are well known for the partying songs like "Rockin' the Beer Gut" and others that warm up the crowd for entertainers such as Toby Keith. This trio may sound a little different and look a little different and that's exactly why you should give them a listen! They aren't like the same stuff that's on the radio. They aren't trying to be the same as (whomever). They're Trailer Choir - remember the name, look for them near you and seek out their first CD "Off the Hillbilly Hook" and prepare to be entertained!

LoCash Cowboys is a duo that has a high energy show. If you like a get-on-your-feet show to have a good time and haven't seen these guys look on their tour page, find a show and go see them. Disregard that if you like sit down concerts! While they have some awesome ballads they are a full throttle show with no brakes.

Eli Young Band is a band that you'll see and think they look really young. Don't let that fool you! With songs like "When It Rains' and "Always the Love Songs" they can belt out the ballads or kick up the heels too. They've put miles on the bus tires touring in 2009 and are prepared for a great 2010.

Justin Moore has broken in with what I think is one of the best singles of 2009 in "Small Town USA." A talented writer and singer who has opened for Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney and others he's with Valory Music Company (also home of Reba & Jimmy Wayne). Justin knows country the hands on way with roots in an Arkansas small farm. Take a listen - there's much more to come and the year is looking bright!

If you are looking for a newer artist that isn't trying to be someone else, that has talent to sing and entertain don't overlook these five. People say they've stopped listening to country because it's more pop they want some fast songs but want *country* music. There are some still playing country. Take a listen!
