5 Top Pubic Hair Removal Techniques for Better Sex

Jessie Penn
The desire to remove public hair has increased within the last few years. Some remove pubic hair to be comfortable when wearing bikinis, shorts, or tight fitting exercise clothing. Without hair to block a physical touch, greater sensitivity can be realized when engaging in sexual activity. Some have suggested a man's penis looks bigger without pubic hair. And, others suggest oral sex can be given easier and more intense feelings can be enjoyed.

Hair removal procedures can range anywhere between $50 to $2,000, depending on the salon's location and specific geographical area. Pubic hair removal procedures have increased public interest and client business. Many people feel that beauty does not come without a price or pain. Both, women and men are scheduling appointments to have their pubic hair removed, and many salons, catering to this trend, have opened across the United States.

Basically, there are five different types of techniques used to accomplish pubic hair removal. However, most hair removal techniques are painful and can cause severe skin irritation.

Shaving: The most popular way to remove pubic hair is by shaving. However, in addition to, in-grown hairs and infections, itchy and painful bumps can appear on the sensitive skin. Trimming the hair first is essential. The pubic hair should not be any longer than one-quarter of an inch when using a razor, and be sure to use a sharp, clean razor! Additionally, there are several ways to style your pubic hair. Some design symbols, like lightening bolts, and that area is not shaved.

Creams: Creams and chemical depilatories are usually found as liquid or creams, and applied over the unwanted pubic hair. They remain over the hair and skin for a determined amount of time. The chemical concoction dissolves the keratin in the hair so it can be wiped away. However, never leave the product on your skin more than the required time, because it can irritate the sensitive pubic area skin. To know how your skin reacts to this type of cream, try it on a small area first, and wait 48 hours before applying to over the genital area. Creams do not have the lasting effects of waxing, but are less costly, around $15.00. Always be sure to use only products that are designed to remove pubic hair, and NEVER apply it to your genitals.

Bikini Waxing: Basically, there are three common waxing techniques included with the Bikini waxing: (1) American waxing, (2) French waxing, and (3) Playboy waxing. These procedures usually range between $50 and $100.

The American waxing is done by removing the hair at the top of the inner thighs and below the naval. The waxing area is limited to the outer perimeter around the bikini swimsuit.

French waxing is removing all the hair except for a strip directly above the vulva, known as a landing strip. The strip is normally two or three fingers in width.

A Playboy waxing, often referred to a G-waxing, removes the hair from the labia and peri-anal areas.

Salons and spas also offer pubic hair stenciling kits to create designs. Hearts and lightning bolt creations are pricey, but are difficult to accomplish yourself. Pubic hair design kits to color the pubic hair, such as pink, auburn, black blonde, and more are also available at some salons.

Brazilian Wax: This procedure differs from regular bikini wax because all pubic hair (front, back and everything in between) is removed. The procedure is reported to be very painful, but the pain is usually lessened through continued waxing. On average, the procedure costs about $100 per visit, and is popular with both, men and women.

Laser Hair Removal: Normally, the laser procedure is not painful, and most people experience just a slight irritation after the technique. Any style or amount of pubic hair can be removed, permanently, by laser. Professionals charge between $200 to $600 per session, and four sessions are required to complete the hair removal technique. Laser hair removal is a bit pricey, but once the hair has been removed, it will never return. Removing pubic hair by laser completely eliminates the need to shave, cream or wax ever again.
