5 TV Show Panels at Comic Con 2010

Comic Con Isn't Just About Comics; There Are Also Some Amazing Panels of TV Show Writers...

J G Hodnette
Comic Con is famous for many things, but one of the most mainstream of those things is the fantastic TV panels that get unleashed onto the public. Fans are able to meet the creators, writers, and actors of some of the best shows on television and finally ask them the questions they've always kept bottled inside. These are often some very famous individuals! See if one of my picks is also one of your favorite shows!

1. Family Guy (Fox)

One of the most popular comedy shows on television, this great show was actually once canceled and then brought back. The show has gone through many incarnations while still maintaining a fan group of the people who most understand pop references, random jokes, and American-focused gags. Creator Seth McFarland does the voice acting for Stewie, Peter, and Brian for the show. Other notable voices and writers include Seth Green who plays Chris and Alex Borstein who does the voice for Lois.

2. Glee (Fox)

The big new hit for Fox recently is the musical comedy-drama Glee. This show focuses on a fictional High School show choir. The show's creators, Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, first considered Glee as a film, but it was decided by Fox to be made into a series. Murphy selects the series's music, aiming to maintain a balance between show tunes and chart hits. Songs covered in the show are released through iTunes Store during the week of broadcast, making the show a potential source of revenue from all directions as well as a completely new form of entertainment. A panel of writers and actors would be interesting to see.

3. It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia (FX)

This long running show on FX is returning with a new season and for comic con you can have the opportunity to talk with writers, actors, and creator of this black and blue comedy TV series. The creator is Rob McElhenney and the show stars Glenn Howerton, Kaitlin Olson, Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, and the most famous actor Danny DeVito. With such a funny show, the panel would probably be equally entertaining.

4. Futurama (Comedy Central)

After acquiring Futurama from Fox, Comedy Central is now in the process of releasing brand new episodes for the popular but short lived adult cartoon series. Comedy Central has announced that there will be 26 new episodes in all and so far they have been met with mostly positive reviews from old and new fans. The writers and much beloved voices of the show will have a panel at comic con 2010. It'll be a group that many people will be very interested in seeing.

5. Robot Chicken (Adult Swim)

Cartoon Networks night-time programming block is home to a number of fringe-styled cartoon comedy. Most of these shows only manage to get a cult following, but of those cult followings Robot Chicken probably has the biggest group. This creative show is headed by Seth Green, the writer and voice actor from Family Guy who does the voice of Chris Griffin. The basic premise of Robot Chicken is to take action figures and use stop animation to make amusing mockeries of popular culture figures or childhood cartoon heroes. The result is a quick paced stream of short mini plots and a lot of laughs. Robot Chicken only runs for 15 minutes, but it's still quality programming. A panel with the writers would be a real treat.
