5 TV Shows I'm Thankful for This Thanksgiving

Lisa Miller
This Thanksgiving I have a lot to be thankful for. I have been extremely lucky in regard to friends, family, stability and health. But beyond all that, as an admitted entertainment junkie, I'm also thankful for the quality of television shows that are currently being made. Is that a shallow thing to be thankful for? Maybe, but it's my contention that we are living in a golden age of television. Not as important as friends and family, sure, but something to be happy about nonetheless.

So, with that said, here are five television series that I personally am thankful for. They might not all be the best shows currently on tv, but they make my life a little bit more enjoyable.

TV Shows I'm Thankful for #5: Raising Hope

Raising Hope just began this past fall, but I've already fallen in love with it. The cast has amazing chemistry, and the writing is often extremely clever. This is the only show I know of that can alternatively be both adorable and very dark. It's just really charming.

TV Shows I'm Thankful for # 4: The Walking Dead

Here's another new series, but like Raising Hope, The Walking Dead didn't take long to win me over. The brilliant pilot episode alone was enough to keep me sticking around. The first (short) season is already almost finished, but I'll be waiting impatiently for the next go-round.

TV Shows I'm Thankful for #3: How I Met Your Mother

After a couple of lackluster seasons, How I Met Your Mother has rediscovered its comedic groove, and I couldn't be happier about it. Season 6 resembles the show I first fell in love with back in Season 2, and I'm thrilled to say that I look forward to Monday nights once again.

TV Shows I'm Thankful for #2: Community

Community is, hands-down, the funniest show on television right now, and the funniest show to grace our screens in several years. Those who were a bit wary about Season 2 living up to the greatness of the premiere season have seen their fears alleviated, with this season already having several absolutely brilliant outings.

TV Shows I'm Thankful for #1: Mad Men
