5 Types of People Who Annoy Me

Is This You?

Sherri Thornhill
Not too long ago I wrote an article about the top 10 things that annoy me on a daily basis. It included mosquitoes (I live in Texas you know), though they seem to cold this winter to bother with me. I'm grateful for that; I was tired of being itchy. So now I decided to write a little article on 5 types of people that truly bother me. Maybe they annoy you as well? Better to get it out than to hold it in and waste a perfectly good article to write for AC.

Bigots

I may as well start with the one that weighs heavy on my heart and mind, especially lately. Here is the Webster dictionary definition of a bigot:

Main Entry: big• ot

Pronunciation: \ˈbi-gət\

Function: noun

Etymology: French, hypocrite, bigot

Date: 1660

: a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially: one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance.

Bigots always deny they are bigots, so I thought if they read the definition, they might face reality. It's worth a shot.

Bullies

I really can't stand bullies. You can find bullies on the school yard pushing other kids around, intimidating them, and taunting them; it needs to stop. If you get word that your kid is being bullied, do something about it. It is not just kids being kids, and it often turns violent, even deadly.

Bullies can be found as adults too, they are loud, obnoxious and think they can get away with anything. You can find a lot of those bullies currently incarcerated. Society does not like bullies, and I am part of society.

Cheaters

Every day we read about cheaters. There are the celebrities who are cheating on their wives, people cheating on their taxes, and banks cheating their customers. It makes you wonder how these people were raised. Did they cheat their whole lives? What is it in their brain that allows them to justify their behavior? The only cheaters who show remorse, are the cheaters who get caught. 9 times out of 10, the remorse is strictly because they got caught, not because they actually think they did anything wrong. Sad.

Sexists

These people really get under my skin. Now there is such a thing as a sexist female, but it is rare. It is usually an uneducated and insecure member of the male species that spouts the most sexist statements, and truly believes they are in the right. Women are not property, they are not slaves, and they are not the only species capable of taking care of children, cooking, and cleaning. There are some wonderful Texas gentlemen here, great guys. However, some of the good ol boy idiocy that I witness is enough to make me want to shake the sexists until they awaken to see that it is the year 2010, not 1810. Why anyone would go out with or marry one of these gems is beyond me.

Mean People

Mean people serve no purpose. I am tired of seeing people who are maybe having a crappy day or are just not nice to begin with; take out their bad mood on other folks. Is it too much to ask for a little common courtesy and decency with your fellow human beings? Do you have to bark at the waitress, put down the cashier or belittle someone else just because you can? Having the right to do something does not mean doing it is right. Who breeds these people? The hypocrites get to me. Don't pretend to be a nice person and then act like a jerk when you don't think anyone is looking.

"Character is doing the right thing when nobody's looking. There are too many people who think that the only thing that's right is to get by, and the only thing that's wrong is to get caught."-J.C.Watts

Despite the fact that I don't like these personality types, I forgive the people with them and I will continue to try and understand why they act the way they do. People can change; I know I have changed a lot in just the last 20 years, so I will never give up hope on others. I wouldn't want anyone giving up hope on me.

I think you were too kind to several types... I wish I could adopt your tolerant, forgiving postion, also. I'm just too old to put up with certain behaviors anymore. Nice article. I'll be checking back often via favorites.

Luckily I don't fall into any of these groups...though, I sometimes cheat at card games lol..
